Guest guest
Hai Ma Namaste Thank you for all of these kind words. I feel a little better now, knowing that I am not going crazy. I feel almost like a bhajan addict: the more I get, the more I WANT! Advait-ji, Here is a sampling of some of the tunes I really enjoy these days that are not particularly Amma bhajans. Devadas -- "Shine Shine On" (he is an Amma devotee and the songs are generally about Amma, but not traditional bhajans) ANYTHING by Krishna Das! He is one of my favorites. One can certainly feel his bhakti through his music, especially on "Door of Faith". It is an amazing collection of songs, and he is a very great artist. He has a new CD coming out at the end of this month too. "The Chord of Love" by Ram Dass and Amazing Grace. This is a great album by Krishna Das, Ram Dass, Jai Uttal, and others. The readings by Ram Dass are particularly wonderful. If you like "Devotion" by Rasa, you'll also like Rasa's other album, "Union". Of course, "Mantram: Chant of India" by Ravi Shankar and the great George Harrison is a favorite. It is also where this child learned many prayers, pre-meeting-Amma. "Divine Bliss" by Sri Anandi Ma "The Essence" by Deva Premal. I don't generally like much of her work, but this CD is soothing. "Come Away With Me" by Norah Jones, daughter of the above-mentioned Ravi Shankar. Not particularly spiritual, but soothing and lovely. If you like Rasa, you'll probably also like Deep Forest. Their self- titled album is definitely a good one. Additionally, check out some of the bhajans by Jagjit Singh; his voice and style is very low-key and soothing, definitely along the lines of Rasa. In fact, hubby and I go to sleep to a mix containing both of them! The Buddha Bar series is pretty good, but not fool-proof. Most of Erykah Badu's album, "Baduizm", is very spiritual in nature. "Magical Healing Mantras" by namaste' is one of the best, in my opinion. It's very soothing and calming, but different from Rasa. You'll definitely like it. Hope that helps. If you'd like, I can send you some mp3 "samples" of the above. *winkwink* With love, Forever the music geek, Erica Ammachi, "jaiamma@g..." <jaiamma@g...> wrote: > Hi Dave & Erica, Same thing happened to me a while back. His new CD "All One" (available Aug. 23) is a full hour of the Hare Krishna chant. > > "The Chord of Love" by Ram Dass and Amazing Grace. > This is a great > album by Krishna Das, Ram Dass, Jai Uttal, and > others. The readings > by Ram Dass are particularly wonderful. I have this on cassette, but the tape deck in my mom & dad's car chewed it up! For the real deal, i.e. intended for Indians, not recorded mainly for sale to westerners, I have an assortment of bhajan cassettes by Bollywood artists such as Asha Bhosle, Latta Mangeshkar, Anuradha Paudwal, Narendra Chanchal and Anup Jalota. I got many of them in India for Rs. 25 or 30 (less than a buck) each. In India, CDs and tapes will have the price printed on the cover, so there's no haggling!
