Back in 1987, Amma gave sacred thread to at least a few Westerners that I know

of, at Her insistance. Ron and Sridhar for sure, and I would imagine Steve and

Steve and others. I wonder if She gave them Gayatri Mantra as well? Does

anyone know?

I will have to call Sridhar and ask him tomorrow.

Re: Gayatri mantra

to be initiated by Amma is awesome, irrespective of the mantra. its the

resolve behind the mantra that matters.

Amma has over the years initiated devotees in mantras as diverse as jewish,

buddist & madarin... even mantras on the formless brahman.

gayathri is traditionally, considered a superior mantra, bcoz of several

reasons, mainly due to the fact that it acts directly on the surya nadi (solar

nerve).

boys born into the brahmin caste (usually at the age of 9) are initiated into

gayatri. devotees bring their kids to Amma to do this initiation. Amma

initiatied me into brahminhood when i was a kid.

It's not a secret (neither is the panchadasakshari). But to chant it,

one needs to be initiated.

To be initiated into the Gayatri by Amma is awesome. that is what i

was referring to.

Hi Mahamuni,

You surely seem to know a lot about this organization and it's

history. Why are you so shy as to not tell us your real name?

Mahamuni you may be, but how about a little "Satyamuni"?

I like it when people use their real names.

I'm not sure what you mean by a little "Satyamuni". Everything I have said has

been true. I've been around Amma since 1990, not that long--certainly not long

enough for me.

I am certainly not a Mahamuni. Mahamuni Babaji was a focus of worship for me

for a long time, so even this main email title is devoted to Him.

I certainly wasn't trying to hide, just didn't sign the emails at all. My

profile is available for everyone and that has a pic of me in India and some of

the various names people call me.

Might as well have a little fun now that you mention it.

Actually, I enjoy your posts a lot. I'm sure they're true. Sometimes I

just like to know who is speaking. You'll have to forgive me--I forgot

to take my surrender pill this morning!!!
