I often write out my mantra. Sometimes I write it 108 times on a page. I write it on the top of the page when I write a snail-mail letter, something which I hardly ever do these days, a casualty of e-mail. I write it in the Sanskrit (devanagari) script. Writing each syllable of the mantra is as powerful as chanting it. I don't tell folks that I am writing my mantra, though a Sanskrit-literate person may be able to deduce the fact. IMHO I don't think the secrecy of a mantra is breached if you tell someone your ishta deva, i.e. "I have a Krishna mantra" or "I have a Devi mantra", without revealing the mantra itself. > > It is also my belief that neither Amma nor > Karunamayi amma will > initiate anyone in the two mantras below. I could be wrong, but I believe Karunamayi only initiates her devotees in the Saraswati mantra (Om Aim Hrim Shrim Saraswati Devyai Namah) Keval
