Guest guest
My .02... Someone asked me once if, when I go to see Amma, she recognizes me. They wondered because there are so many devotees who come to see her for years -- how can she keep track of them all? My answer was, of course, "YES!" -- how could a mother not recognize one of her children? -- but the question had me reeling a bit. I wondered if Amma knew me, inside, outside, anything. The next time I saw her, she spoke my husband's mother tongue to me, and a word I knew, at that. She also said my name once and that really got me going! I never had a doubt after that as to whether Amma knew me or not. My point is that Amma knows us ALL. She sees everything that happens inside her children and otherwise! Amma knows what her children need, even when her children think they need otherwise. If our Ma feeds us all of the sweets we want, will that help us? Will that make us grow stronger and more healthy? Of course not. Our Ma knows that we need some spinach and lima beans sometimes, and sometimes that comes in the form of unanswered questions. Sometimes it comes in the form of husbands not getting proper jobs (ahem). It is, quite possibly, the ultimate human experiment in patience and acceptance and devotion to see ALL as her grace -- not just the "sweets", but the lima beans too. Choking down the divine lima beans one at a time, With love, Erica P.S. AGAIN with the vegetable metaphores! Sri Ramana didnt go on tour- people had to come to tiruvannamalai ( arunachala) to meet Him. > > Also, in a conversation with Amma i had 2 years ago, Amma referred to Sri Ramana. She said "He( Sri Ramana) had advanced disciples who asked him vedantic questions. But thats not the case with Amma. people come by the thousands, ask whether they can marry this person or that, whether they can change their jobs, location etc.. theives come to see Her , prostitutes come to see Her .. how can She talk vedanta to all? ...." > > namah shivaya >
