If your friend wants personal instruction, my suggestion is , get into the

question line and ask for personal instructions. ask him to try at various

places on the tour. better yet , go to amritapuri and stay there for sometime

and ask for instructions. Sri Ramana didnt go on tour- people had to come to

tiruvannamalai ( arunachala) to meet Him.

Also, in a conversation with Amma i had 2 years ago, Amma referred to Sri

Ramana. She said "He( Sri Ramana) had advanced disciples who asked him vedantic

questions. But thats not the case with Amma. people come by the thousands, ask

whether they can marry this person or that, whether they can change their jobs,

location etc.. theives come to see Her , prostitutes come to see Her .. how can

She talk vedanta to all? ...."

He admires the writings of Ramana Maharshi and Nisragadatta, as I

do. He really loves non-dualism, as do many "intellectuals."

This may be one of the slight problems with having too many gurus

and not being focused on Amma's teachings: he is expecting Amma to

become his idea of Ramana Maharshi. he doesn't understand it when

Amma doesn't give him personal instruction and instead has huge

bhakti satsangs which he considers to be "kindergarden."

After reading these Amazing quotes from Amma below, it made all my

responses to him seem kind of silly. I posted them over there,

Thanks!

Also, I read extensively in spiritual topics...especially hunduism.

I really love it, and seems to broaden my understanding.

But I have to say we have the most unique guru. I am so so proud of

Amma. Isn't that sort of dopey? When I see her or hear about the

things she does, I'm like o! go Amma! When I look at her

pictures they are alive..literally, they don't seem like just

pictures to me. Im so glad someone is speaking doing and acting the

truth! To me Amma is actually Krishna, returned to help us. I mean

that literally. Can we second guess Krishna? I mean isn't that

funny? My prayer is may there be millions of Ammas! Maybe that is

all of you.

I just finished an online back and forth in the Ammachi Free speech

zone for a long time Amma devotee who is struggling because he feels

that Amma is not giving him enough personal meditation instruction.

He admires the writings of Ramana Maharshi and Nisragadatta, as I

do. He really loves non-dualism, as do many "intellectuals."

.... If people sat outside and looked at the stars each night. I'll bet

they'd live a lot differently.
