Dear List Members, Amma's "Children of Immortality",

my 2 cents on seeing other saints is that first one must make sure

that the person is truly a saint according to the qualifications set

out by beings such as Amma ,Sri Ramakrishna ,and Sri Ramana Maharshi.

We can always go to Amma and ask Her if seeing a certain saint would

benefit us. Amma knows if the "saint" is really a saint ( and here it

is best to proceed with great caution so we do not get deluded and

hurt); and Amma also insturcts us each individually. What may be

beneficial for me may be harmful for someone else.

Thank you Jystsna for writing this, and helping us to deepen our

relation with our Guru.

"Swamiji gave a wonderful talk last year in Michigan in November.

He asked if we had noticed people who went from relationship

to relationship but never got serious about anyone. We all

nodded. He said the reason that people who date a lot but

don't get into serious relationship is that they know (at some

level) that serious relationships cause pain and they are

seeking to avoid pain. He said that it is the same way with

gurus. Once we enter into a truly serious relationship with

one guru, we will have major pain, and that many people

seek to avoid this kind of pain by also visiting a variety of

gurus rather than going deep with one. I had been in so much

pain over my relationship with Amma at that time that I had

decided I just couldn't go on. Swamiji's talk was like a light

switching on! When I (with a grateful heart) went for darshan

that morning, Amma greeted me with a laugh and a big,

"Ahaaa!" meaning that she knew I had finally gotten it."

As Amma said in Her Guru Purnima Message:

"...the bond of love between the Guru and the disciple ....is the

pinnacle of pure Love. "

There is pain in being physically far from Amma.

In my life, the pratice of IAM has greatly helped me to feel Amma's

presence on a daily basis in my life. For the first 11 months , doing

IAM was a physically difficult and often uncomfortable and painful

experience for me.

But I kept on, thinking that Amma wanted me to do this, and

that She only wants what is good for me.

Finally, last May I got a breakthrough. Something really difficult

happened to me that caused me a lot physical pain, financial losses,

mental anguish, and also caused trouble to others.

I had faith that this was Amma's will for me, even though I cried alot

about it all .

Through it all I kept on with my IAM, and found a real

deepening of spiritual experience when doing IAM. Now I enjoy doing

IAM, whereas before I sometimes dreaded doing it thinking what

physically strange thing was going to happen to me next.

Personally, if Amma advised me to see someone, whether it was a

relative ( and I add this because I have asked Amma about visiting

relatives ), a friend ,or a saintly person I would do so. Otherwise I

would NOT seek out the company of other saints.

Thank you a lot all my brothers and sisters for all of your sharing

this summer. It makes my life brighter and helps me feel closer to

Amma.

In Amma's Love,

sarama
