This is my educated guess. Perhaps we need to invest more energy and pathos before we can expect Grace. The monkey mind giggles. Dear GeorgeSon ~ I agree with the idea that Amma already knows everything about us, what we need, etc. I also believe what you have paraphrased from Savrita Bess. As Alexander Graham Bell (or perhaps it was Einstein, but I heard it from my first painting teacher) said: success is 99% perspiration, 1% inspiration. As an example, I ask people to consider the Prayer List. What happens? People think of someone they want prayers for, and they think of why they want the prayers ~ or perhaps it is for themselves. Then they write and ask for the prayers. Very often, they write what the prayers are being asked for. There is something powerful in this kind of action ~ "putting IT out there to the Universe," so to speak. And so many of the prayers have been answered. And just like our own earthly mothers may like to hear from us with a letter, so our Divine Mother may also like to hear from us, in our very own words. There is something about taking an action and making a direct connection that creates results. These results come from Amma, God, the Universe, etc. It is a co-creation, a relationship, if you will, and Mother wants that relationship with Her children. I am reminded of the book, "Conversations With God," by Neale Donald Walsh. If one accepts the basic premis upon which the book rests (that God is speaking with Neale on a variety of topics), one thing that comes through loud and clear is that God wants us to interact with Him/Her, to consider Him/Her a confidant, a friend, or as in Amma's case, a Mother. When we have this "conversation," this relationship, whether is be writing our prayer requests, writing directly to Amma, or talking to Amma during darshan when She is on tour, our "conversation" with Amma grows, strengthens, enlivens and nourishes. Our relationship with Amma becomes more and more profound, and miracles show up in our lives, not the least of which is the feeling of oneness (or Self-Realization) we all strive to attain. Well, I could go on, but I think I've said enough. Jai Ma ~ Linda P.S. Investing our energy with Amma, in whatever form we do, is certainly a whole lot better than investing in the stock market.
