Guest guest
Dear Linda: If you are interested in a quick yet somewhat limited read of the Mandukya Karika of Gaudapada click on: http://www.spiritual-teachers.com/mandukya.htm The Vedanta Society of Northern California Online Bookstore has several versions. Please click and scroll down to the M section at Mandukya http://www.sfvedanta.org/bookshop/VSNCTitleDump.php A wonderful commentary on the Karika exists by Swami Chinmayananda. This is in Swami Discourses on Mandukya Upanishad with Gaudapada's Karika, by Swami Chinmayanda of the Chinmaya Publication Trust, Madras, 1966. Unfortunately it is out of print. The Chinmayananda Mission has this and other Spiritual Treasures in its Chinmaya Publication Trust Online Library. For a five dollar online fee you get access to their excellent library in which the above mentioned commentary is included. Incidentally, Gaudapada was one of Sankaracharya's gurus. Sri Sankaracharya is held by many in India to be the chief exponent of Advaita. His Master, Sri Gaudapada is often considered the oldest exponent of Advaita Vedanta. Some historians contend that Sri Gaudapada was a Buddhist. With Love, GeorgeSon
