Guest guest
The hotel in Marlboro was a new site for us and so I just want to let people know that next year, assuming we'll be at the same site, we will definitely try to book the whole hotel for ourselves so most retreatants will be right there. It turned out this year that we had only about half the rooms. We'll also work on providing better transportation services for those needing them if they're in another hotel. In general we liked the site but if anyone has any other comments I can pass them on to the organizors. I LOVED the art work around the hall and backdrop painting for the stage! Thanks. ______________________ ______________________ Message: 23 Mon, 8 Aug 2005 23:17:03 -0700 (PDT) "E. Lamb" Re: RE: Boston Trip/Hotels etc. Hi, I'm catching up on old e-mails, so will venture a few words here. It was a great joy to meet Avinash at the Boston retreat :-). I usually help with registration at the retreats I attend, so I can say that MA Center staff told me that they simply didn't get enough rooms at the first two hotels, so had to use three. The number on your registration is for all retreats, not just the one you are registering for. In the library world, we would have called it an accession number for an item added. The three retreats I attended, Seattle, LA, and Boston had approximatley 700, 900, and 1000 attendees respectively. I don't know about the others. I think a lot of people got in the habit of going to the East Coast retreat when it was the last one of the summer tour. I certainly saw a lot of West Coast faces showing up! Website informs all accomidations are filled and "you have to find your own accomidation". So inspite of addittional hotels not much room. I may be wrong but East Coast retreat have largest numbers because of Tri state (NJ has largest number of Indian population than any other state in US). Anybody here from Boston satsang who could give us some insight? BTW Michelle I will see you in Boston (Marlborough) Aum Avinash. Is the East Coast retreat usually that many people or are there other events going on at the hotel? Just curious! Om Namah Shivayah, Michelle Aum Amriteswarayai Namaha! I stayed at the Best Western for the nights prior to the Retreat. During the retreat I was placed in the Hampton Inn. Based on this experience I am given the opportunity to make a comparison. I had a negative experience at the Best Western. On the drive from NYC to Marlborough, Mass. the devotee driving the car offered to switch rooms with me. I needed two beds. The driver/devotee was satisfied with one bed for Her room. She cell phoned the Best Western and they refused to do the switch. My (male) roomate at the Best Western (he was a resident from Amritapuri) had a problem with telephone billing and was upset with Best Western Royal Plaza. The Hampton Inn is a much nicer Hotel (in just about every way) They even provided a buffet breakfast free to Amma's children/guests. The Hampton Inn is equidistant from the hall. In fact I felt that the Hampton Inn was a bit closer to the Trade Center/Hall. One complaint I overheard was the long drive from Logan Airport to Marlborough. Can we get another college campus next year? Many of us miss Bryant College. If not consider giving the Hampton Inn a big share.
