Guest guest
Thanks to all the interesting commentary on Amma's Birthday. Thanks to Linda for the beautiful song which is more meaningful for most of us than a date, time, longitude, latitude. Thanks to Bala for your views especially the reference to Ramana which resonates with my limited understanding expressed below : Facts, figures, words( all words including Amma's and of course mine ) are part of maya and therefore are not the Ultimate Reality of Oneness. If one cannot accept the latter statement even as a hypothesis, if one simply observes life, one will notice that facts do change in time or sometimes expand into various (even conflicting) versions and given a long enough time are forgotten altogether. An American genius mathematician, studied vedic astrology for a decade or two and finally gave up stating there are too many different systems, etc. On the other hand, another American vedic and astrology scholar who relies more on subtle perception of the planets within the human body rather than birthdate/time helps people from that perspective. Of course, dates and times are useful when we need to catch a train, etc. Words also can be utilitarian if used economically to help others and especially if used as pointers to the Ultimate Reality. Perhaps, that is why the best use of words are in spiritual poetry, spiritual songs and spiritual stories where feelings are more useful than facts and figures. But, ultimately I would like to know/experience what Amma means when She says: "i am love" "the language of love is silence" "the first guru taught in silence without speaking words" (above may not be exact quotes) This is my two cents worth. May Amma's Blessings Be on all of us, Amarnath PS ~ Avram, you said "this is just me." Not sure if you are familiar with advaita. >From advaita point of view, you are not the body, not the mind, not the person Avram ~ you are the Supreme Self ~ brother. Of course, these words are not Reality, but perhaps useful pointers ~ I hope.
