Om Namah Shivayah

Does anyone have a really good link for finding the English

definitions of Sanskrit words? I usually use hinduism.about.com's

(which is pretty good, and generally a pretty good informational site)

but I'm looking for something larger.

Thanks in advance!!

With love,

Erica

Dear Erica,

Here are a couple of sites:

http://webapps.uni-koeln.de/tamil/

This is a good site, but you have to enter words using the script

provided there, called Harvard-Kyoto script.

http://members.chello.nl/l.bontes/sans_n.htm

Download the stuff on that page and install them on your computer.

pretty decent, but only subset of the top. But worth it.

This is a good one and basically the whole sanskrit dictionary

in a CD, but searchable. Pretty Good! I had a copy of it.

But lost it :)). Costs $1!!!

Apte's Sanskrit dictionary (book) is a good dictionary to keep, if

one is really serious about Sanskrit learning.

I think this is plenty of information for you to get rocking in

Sanskrit!

Good Luck and Have Fun!

Warm Regards

Narayan

Om Namah Shivayah

Blessed Soul Narayan~

I really don't think that I can rock Sanskrit, but I really want a

resource where I can look up some words from mantras, prayers, etc.

so I really understand their meanings. I am an "advanced beginner"

when it comes to these things. ;)

Thank you for the links! I think that I would purchase the $1 CD

ROM, if it wasn't coming from ISKCON. :/ I will use these online

resources. Thanks again!

With love,

Erica
