Guest guest
Om Namah Shivaya: Dear Children of Immortal Bliss: The United Nations has given it's Seal of Approval to Amma's Charitable Status. Please show this page http://www.amritapuri.org/news/07/un-ngo.php to anyone who questions Amma's legitimacy. It can be assumed that Amma was checked backward and forward before the United Nations risked its reputation on Amma's organization. In short, please do not use the word cult and Amma in the same sentence again. Guest guest
The United Nations is a cult. (kidding)... Lighten up. Just because the U.N. recognizes Amma as a charitable foundation doesn't mean that The AMMA movement doesn't have Cult indicators. The truth will all be evident as soon as we die. Too late to do anything about it then. Choose what your soul tells you to. Amma is awesome God is God AMEN....... I concede that the Amma movement "on the surface" has "cult indicators" By digging deeper my personal experience shows otherwise. Reverand Jim Jones was the classic case of religious cultism. On the other hand, Amma says again and again you are free to come and go as you please. I have seen people leave the San Ramon Ashram after a "personal conflict yet no pressure to stay ensues. Where is the brainwashing methodology? Can anyone on this list cite an example? There is never any pressure to stay in the Ashram to my knowledge. When Amma tours, tour staff are strictly volunteers not designated as "members". In actuality if you do not perform your "Staff Seva" properly you can be "fired" by Tour Coordinators and relegated to common devotee status. They do not even offer you another Seva. I have never witnessed psychological manipulation by any in the "hierarchy". The watchword is efficiency not "loyalty" to Amma. I respect any opinion to the contrary on this subject of Amma cultism. Brother Tony, what are the "cult indicators" in your view? With Love, GeorgeSon Ammachi, Tony <ammastony> wrote: > The United Nations is a cult. (kidding)... > > Lighten up. Guest guest
Namah shivaya In boston, when i was doing the "mantra instruction " seva - seva that involves explaining to the people who just got their mantras as to how to do the mantra and how to pronounce it, i came across a lady who was a member of "jehovah's withness" until a few years ago. what she told me horrified me- that if they knew that she visited Amma, they would simply cut her off and have no further conversation with her- also they didnt allow her to go to college- she was 'allowed" to study only till high school- she broke off from them, studied theoretical physics, found vedanta and Amma ...... and was finally getting her mantra ... I told her how Amma encourages education, and even has engineering/bio physics/ computer institutes... how Amma always encourages people to ask questions and how open the whole thing is ... talking to her made me realise even further the difference between Amma's organisation and a "cult"..esp as she had just come out of a cult and had come to Amma ... The Satguru always encourages free thinking. questioning and freedom. A cult tries to brainwash you into their beliefs and tends to prevent free thinking . The Satguru is the exact opposite- th SatGuru wants to take you to the ultimate freedom beyond all concepts .. and by nature anyone is free to walk their path with the Satguru. bala Prasadini <ganesh1008 wrote: leokomor wrote: >Om Namah Shivaya > >Dear Tony: > >Tony wrote: > >"Just because the U.N. recognizes Amma as a charitable foundation >doesn't mean that The AMMA movement doesn't have Cult indicators." > >I concede that the Amma movement "on the surface" has "cult >indicators" By digging deeper my personal experience shows otherwise. > >Reverand Jim Jones was the classic case of religious cultism.
