Guest guest Posted July 17, 2005 Report Share Posted July 17, 2005 It's interested how Christians and allowed to remain Christians, Jews can stay Jews, Moslems can remain within Islam, Buddhists can be Buddhists--and all can come for Amma's blessing and inspiration. Westerners who have been involved with another spiritual group emerging from India, however, often feel that we must drop it when we come to Amma. Admittedly, the "gurus" often require this all-or- nothing approach. Those of us who "convert" from another group to Amma's organization then complain because Amma's group doesn't provide whatever we got from our original spiritual base. Our Asian Indian brothers and sisters do not have this hang-up. If they were in another group before meeting Amma, they keep up with it and also come see Amma. Thus they have the benefit of both. There are long lists of things--services and lessons-- not provided by Amma's organization. If these are needed by a devotee or helpful to him or her, why not simply go elsewhere and get them? It could be said that they are not needed if Amma doesn't offer them, but we all go to the doctor even though Amma doesn't offer such services in the US. He gave me his blessings to do seva for Amma when She was in LA and to enjoy Her Blessings and Darshan. In fact, he emailed me and "thanked me for realizing the Guru" after I saw Amma.
