Namah Shivayah

I saw Ram Dass speak a couple of years ago -- the spring of 2003. He

was touring then with Krishna Das. The bhajans were lovely and

uplifting. RD is the first person who ever really spoke about GRACE

in a way that I understood it. I'll always thank him for that!

Has anyone seen Ram Dass' movie, Fierce Grace? It's an amazing piece

of film that I highly recommend.

There is a girl at our local satsang who has, because of an

accident, two broken legs. I saw her at the Chicago program last

weekend and we really connected for the first time. She said that

she's never felt more grace and surrender than she has since the

accident. This is similar to what Ram Dass says in the movie; he

feels more grace now after his stroke than ever.

I also adore Neem Karoli Baba in a special sort of way. I have found

myself backing away from things that are not Amma-related, as I

almost feel like I'm "cheating". Sometimes I feel that it's silly

and incorrect, but sometimes I do not. However, I am with Amma, and

feel that I should BE WITH Amma.

One more question: does anyone know why some of the swamis cut their

hair? Is it something that happens from time to time? I've been with

Amma for three years and have never known so many swamis to cut

their hair all at once. My husband speculated that it could have

been after the tsunami; someone else speculated it had something to

do with spiritual development. If it's not my business, I'll keep to

myself about it, but I was just curious.

Lots of love,

Clinging to Her feet,

Erica

Namah Shivaya,

I'm so glad to hear that Ram Dais is doing better. It was through his

books that I was drawn to

spirituality after being an agnostic/atheist for many years. I saw him

speak once, long ago, it was wonderful.

I would love to see "Fierce Grace" - a friend saw it and had a

completely different take on it.

Interesting. She thinks I'm nuts for having a guru :-)

I know how you feel about "cheating", Erica, I have the same conflict.

But Ram Dais, Neem Karoli Baba

(who I also adore), etc., are so irresistible. As Prajna says - where

does Mother's lap end?..................

Glad you made it to see Mother.

In Mother's Love,

Prasadini

Just to add another two cents; Amma says there is no

difference between creator and creation. My guess is

that if you're free, you're free, and Amma, Neem

Karoli Baba, Ramakrishna, Anandamayi Ma, Nisargadatta

Maharaj, Jesus, Buddha, they're all "God's love in a

human body." If all we see is the physical form of our

master than aren't we limiting our understanding of

who She is? Is there, in truth any difference between

these masters beyond what can be perceived with mind

and senses?

Also, I asked Swami Pranavamrita (Big Swami's little

brother, who Anaghan and I call "Little Swami!) why

they were cutting their hair, and he said that they

had been asking Amma for years, and She only said yes

recently. Who knows why or what that means, but we all

know that there is a purpose behind everything that

comes from Her!

love,

Prajna

Namah Shivaya,

This reminds me of another story that I think Swami Paraatmananda

told (not sure it was him) about Big Swami asking Mother for a pair

of sandals, as he had no shoes. Mother kept saying "No". For months

Swamiji went barefoot, asking Mother for a pair of sandals periodically.

The answer was always "No". Then one day She said "Yes".
