Namah Shivaya all

First of all- thanks Arun so much for your email regd your fantastic

experience. Thank you for sharing your experience.

I got back yesterday from Chicago- Amma was in green again ... a great

blessing again -almost as if in answer to all our discussions about Mother

Meenakshi the emerald green Mother-

I wanted to tell you the nayanar swami story and the Meenakshi temple incident.

I think the incident that yogaman related was a different one. The nayanar swami

story that i read (from vol 4 Awaken children) is different.

It seems there was an avadhuta called Nayanar swami who lived in a small room

upstairs in a house... He rarely came out of his room and lived in a strange

way- (avadhutas are enlightened beings who sometimes live in a strange "crazy"

way .. )- his room was full of wooden blocks etc..

Once when Amma and her disciples were going on a trip in south india, Amma's van

happened to pass bt the house where Nayanar swami lived.

all of a sudden the swami came running out of his house and started jumping on

the road, gesticulating for the van to stop.

Amma, who was in the van also shouted" there is nayanar swami, stop the van".

the van stopped and Amma got down.. Nayanar swami was looking at Her and saying

"Kali Kali, the deathless One, Kali Bhadrakali".

he then ran to his room and Amma and her other disciples followed.

there in th room, Amma sat down on the floor facing Nayanar Swami.

He kept saying "kali Kali".

All of a sudden, Amma's eyes bulged out, Her toungue came out and an unbroken

sound "HRIM" came out from deep within Her. Her hands formed mudras ....

and Amma even slighltly levitated. Her body was a few inches above the

floor.Seeing Her like this, with tongue hanging out, eyes huge and bulging, and

the sound "Hrim" coming out of her throat, many of Amma's disciples got scared.

Some even started crying.

Nayanar Swmai himself was thoroughly blissful . After a few moments, Amma came

back to Her normal state and She left . The swami came out and waited till She

got into the van and left.

Amma later said that Nayanar swami was a great mahatma, and that She had gone

into Kali bhava because the avadhuta wanted to see the bhava. She also said that

He himself was in "Shiva bhava" at that time.

Amm also said that the avadhuta would leave his body in a couple of years. True

enough, in a couple of years, Nayanar swami passed away. The family in whose

house he was staying upstairs, later told Amma that after Amma left in the van,

the swami was staring in the direction the van went for a long time. He had

told the family " Do you know who that was? That was Kali, BhadraKali ".

thats the Nayanr swami story.

The Meenakshi temple story was as Yogaman related. Only thing in Vol 7 , there

is no mention of Amma's father having taken her there. It was a different

family.

It seems a family of devotees coaxed Amma on going to the Meenakshi temple. She

first refused then agreed to go. On entering the temple, the moment Amma saw the

Sanctum of the Divine Mother, Amma went into samadhi.

The only thing was, Her body was in the standing in the same pose as the statue

of the Divine Mother - one leg bent, one hand raised , the other along the

side- all exactly as the Idol of the Divine Mother Meenakshi.

The family was stunned. They didnt know what to do. Amma was standing like that

for 1.5 hours! as Yogaman said, the pujari came and did Arati to mma .

( a family who lives in madurai told me that the Pujari even put Mother

Meenakshi's crown on Amma! wow. )

Amma was standing like that for an hour or so, when all of a sudden an old lady

came on the scene. She told the family "What ?Dont you know that THAT ONE(

pointing to the Idol of Mother Meenakshi), and THIS ONE ( pointing to Amma) are

one and the same? Chant the Meenakshi stotram ( a hymn in praise of Mother

Meenakshi.

The family slowly started chanting the famous hymn to Meenakshi :

" shrI vidye shiva-vAma-bhAga-nilaye shrIrAjarAjArchite

shrInAthAdi guru svarUpa vibhave chintAmaNi pIThike |

shrIvANi girijA nutA.nghrikamale shrI shAMbavi shrI shive

madhyAhne maladhvAjAdhipa sudhe mAM pAhi mInAmbike ".

And as the family was chanting, the old lady who came from nowhere, fell at

Amma's feet, hugging Her feet. Slowly Amma came out of samadhi, bent down ,

hugged the old lady and returned to Her normal state. The old lady suddenly went

away- no one knows who she was, where she came from or where she went.

After this the family realised that Amma is The Divine Mother Herself, and

that there was no point in trying to take Amma to the temple- as She Herself is

the deity being worshipped there!

Thats the Meenakshi temple story.

and now for MY little story from YESTERDAY!

yesterday Amma was in green in Chicago Devi bhava. .when I went up for darshan

, I happened to tell Amma "Amma looks so beautiful in green" .. to which Amma

playfully replied to my wife " He ( one of the swamis) used to say I am

Meenakshi !!!!! ".

wow.

Jai Meenakshi Amriteshwari.

Namah Shivaya

"B. Arun Raj" <arunraj wrote:

Dear siblings of Amma...

as promised, here is the first of this child's experiences of Amma's Divine

form... first, let me relate something from my childhood...

i started learning yoga at school at the age of 9, after my father insisted its

good for health. i enjoyed it a lot & practiced meditation at home & at our

family's Kali temple at my mother's native home. sometimes, when the meditation

sessions were particularly intense, i remember hearing two distinct sounds, that

were simply unforgettable. as i child, i never knew what they were, nor did i

ask anyone, as i found it difficult to express them. one sounded like a earth

shattering growl & another sounded like the word "hum" (with the "u" as it

sounds in "boom"). it sounded frightening at times... but never bothered to

enquire, as i got accustomed to hearing it.. just considered it as another

passing cloud.

several years later... it was vacation time at college.. and like all vacations,

our gang of young devotees doing our graduation at cochin (where Amma's 50th

birthday celebrations were held) fled to Amritapuri (which was hardly 2 hours

drive away) to spent time there. but, for me this vacation was slightly

different from the earlier ones, bcoz... i just dont know what got into me, all

i could think of was about performing Kali sadhana (special practices done after

midnight to appease Kali). i took it for just another chilish spiritual

adventure, and did not give it much regard. one morning during the stay at

Amma's Ashram, i was going to the thidappali (where prasad is made for the puja

in the Kalari temple), when i suddenly stood still, i kind of lost my senses...

my head was spinning.. it could be from the lack of rest & sleep, i thought...

but, within a few moments, forgot the world around me, even the body no longer

seem to be there. all i could feel was some strong messages

within... one of which was to perform Kali Sadhana & and that i had been with

Amma in my previous births. after this brief loss, rested in front of the Kalari

for few moments until i regained my composure & went back to work in the press.

i had decided that i'll meet Swamiji later that day (i do not prefer to reveal

his name... i chose to meet him, bcoz, i knew he had seen Amma's Kali form

before). later that day, met him in his room & expressed my intense desire to

perform practices related to Kali. He looked at me for a while & said that i had

done practices in a previous birth. but, do not recommend any at this time, as

the practices might adversely effect my engineering graduation studies. He was

excited as he spoke a lot about Kali & mentioned that Amma is Kali Herself.

the conversation with Swamiji that night left a deep impression in my heart..

something had changed within.. i was determined.. now, i just had to see Her..

my Divine Mother, Kali. all i could think of was meeting Her in person. at that

point in time, i did not have the slightest idea about what i was going to

experience. i was aware that Amma knew my every thought, but, could not gain any

darshan in Her Kali form during the period of my stay at the Ashram. maybe She

wanted to see how dedicated i was. we received Amma's darshan as usual & left

for cochin after a week. the next saturday, i was attending the weekly bhajans

at the local ashram branch. the final bhajan was "jhilam jhilam..." which was

about Ma Kali. i was seated at the back end of the hall, with no one near me. it

was about the middle of the song when, the lights went out. the speakers were

running on battery. i felt an intense longing to see Amma.. with eyes closed, i

called Her with all my heart. at one point, i felt

a growing presense before me.. it was so strong, it forced me to come out of

the state of absorption i was in & opened my eyes..... i could not see any of

the devotees in front.. just effulgent light ....then 2 huge bare legs emerged

from it a few meters ahead of me... the figure loomed high.. it was tall, maybe

around 30 feet or more, i had to strain my head as i looked up... was simply

petrified when i saw it..... it was THE FORM... a dark female form with

disheavelled hair... bones & skulls hanging down.. i cannot describe how

dreadful it looked.. wished i could run away.. but my body would'nt budge... it

felt like a immoveable corpse...the body would'nt respond. at the same time,

felt an electric shock pass thought my whole system... like a thunderbolt had

struck me. as i watched Her... She was moving... the tongue was hanging down

from Her mouth... it was so awsome, i had no choice but to surrender.... soon my

mind accepted the Form.. knew it was Amma.. from Her eyes, just

knew it was Her. soon the fear boiled down & was replaced with love... Her

intense compassion overwhelmed me. i too felt intense love develop towards Her.

then, saw Swamiji near Her left leg... who looked very small in front of Her...

saw him get absorbed into Her form. i could feel my nervous system overflowing

with energy.. as if blocked pipes all got open suddenly & was flowing with

light. what i felt within is inexpressible. felt like i longer was there... it

was just Her. it was so so moving (was not aware of it then, but one of my

friends told me later that i was crying continously during & after the Kali

bhajan). dont remember how long it went. when i opened my eyes... the lights

were back & saw the last of the devotees receive their prasad... the bhajans

were over & prasad distribution almost complete. the body was still not

responding to my commands. sat there with eyes closed for quite some time. after

everyone left, slowly got up, collected prasad from the plate near

Amma's photo & went home. on the way, eventhough it was dark, i felt only light

within & without... as if the whole world was Ma Kali's form & felt it was

overflowing with a heart warming effulgence everywhere i looked. knew i was in

love with Her. from that day, i started addressing Amma as "Kali Amma".

even today, that massive Form brings chills all over. but, m no longer

frightened, bcoz m in love with Her.

later came to know more about the sounds i used to hear during the meditation

sessions as a kid... that which sounded like a growl was Her laugher & "hum" was

the mantra syllable Kali utters.. when She awakens the kundalini.

if Amma wishes, will post more experiences in the future.

at Her Lotus Feet,

Her child.

The above transliteration, with a mix of upper and

lower case, looks like Klingon :)

In Klingon, upper and lower case letters represent

different phonetic values, giving the Klingon alphabet

effectively 56 letters.

Ah! So there is Kali and Hrim again-have been some discussion of Kali

and hrim lately.

Bala, I must have been talking about the same story-read it many

years ago. The Meenakshi story was recounted by Amma's father and it

is on amritapuri.org site- but certainly Amma's fathers

recapitulation was not as good as yours !!!

LOLllllllllllllllllll!! For some reason I associate the color green

with Meenakshi - not sure if it is from some dhyana sloka or from the

movie -Madhurai Meenakshi:-).

Well i go the transliteration from ambaa.org- the special mix of upper and

lower case is to ensure proper pronunciation of the syllables "A" is "aa" ( as

in aah), and "a" is "shiva".

Yogaman,

Meenakshi is always depicted in green. In fact the shade of green that She

wears and Her compexion itself is that shade is called "Meenakshi pachai" in

tamil ( "pachai" is tamil for green.)

Mata Maragata shyama matangi .... Maragata is "emerald". if I am not mistaken

the statue itself in the Madurai Meenakshi temple is made of emerald.

Bala,

Yes maybe thats what I am thinking of. Meenakshi being of green hue.

Visited the temple many years ago, absolutely wonderful. How much

more wonderful it would have been with Amma there!!
