My professor had one question, very important to her, to ask Amma. It

was "Are you Bhadrakali?" (This is one of the two professors who took

us to Kerala and introduced us to Bhadrakali.) She was unable to ask

the question so I have been sending her the Amme-Kali stroies as

posted here. This message included the English translation of Hrim

Kali:

********

Namah shivaya

Reminds me of another swami story.. One of Amma's swamis once

insisted that Amma give him a vision of Her form as Kali ...

Amma said that he wouldnt be able to bear it.. but then he

insisted. He even went on a fast and prayed deeply for that

vision.

One day he was outside Amma's room. ( this was in those days

when Amma used to give darshan in a hut - "kutil darshan") .

Amma was walking up and down from the hut and towards the

staircase to Her room and back.

and even as the swami was looking , when she walked in one

direction She appeared as the normal Amma and when She walked in

the other direction She was Kali- 30 feet tall( he said that she

was at the height of the palm tree), with tongue hanging out and

all....

the swami was overcome, and frankly terrified. He just looked

down in fear and bowed his head down. after that Amma came and

told him "Didnt I tell you you wouldnt be able to bear it?".

It was after this vision, that the swami composed the bhajan

"Hrim Kali".

Jai Kali Ma.

Dear Amma Family:

Here are the lyrics to "Hrim Kali" translated into English.

Their

may be inaccuracies but the spirit is present. I got this

translation from a non_Amma Hindu orientented web site.

O Goddess Kali identified with the sound "Hrim",

the Great Kali, Mother Amritanandamayi,

Who takes one across the Ocean of Becoming,

an Incarnation of Compassion and Bliss,

Mother Amritanandamayi.

In the beginning, Mother became the Lotus-eyed One.

Then She became Kali, Her actual form.

Kali became peaceful becoming Lalitambika,

the Mother for Her children.

She became the refuge for the devotees,

the Servant of servants,

the Guru for ascetics,

and everything for lowly me...

O Mother Bhagavati, gracious Amritanandamayi.

Thy mood as Krishna is a delight to the eyes

Thy Mood as Devi soothes the heart

Goddess in visible form,

Eye of my eyes,

For wrongs done knowingly or unknowingly,

forgive and protect me,

O Mother Bhagavati, Amritanandamayi.
