Guest guest
Om Namah Shivaya, My home is located up many potentially treacherous stairs in the redwoods, where it can be so dark at night, that you can't even see an arm's length ahead of you. Especially when returning home in the middle of the night, I'll quietly sing "Chamundayai, Kali Ma," while visualizing Kali walking near me as a protector. Sometimes I've envisioned Kali as my little bronze colored Kali statue, doing defensive moves around me The swami's vision provides an even bigger & fiercer form to visualize as a protector. While experiencing a difficult time with someone, mentally I repeatedly chanted "Kali Ma, Kali Ma, Kali Ma" and the troubles resolved beautifully in my favor. After looking to Kali as my protective Mother for quite some time, a vedic astrology reading revealed that Kali is my ishta deva, (form of God I worship.) But, just as with any good mother, Kali Ma can seem very tough on us, when we need it! sweta "E. Guest guest
One time I arrived at the Devi Mandir for Kali Puja. It was pitch black out and I did not have a flashlight. Suddenly someone aimed a very bright light in my face. I was blinded by it. They asked me "do you have a special relationship with Kali?. I answered "of course, don't we all?" They persisted... do you talk with Her, pray to Her, sing to Her, do puja to Her?" I was a little embarrassed. I answered "yes, all of the above." Then they laughed and said "ahhhh, even puja." That evening was the first time I participated in a Kali puja. I have always felt close to Kali. I love to chant her Thousand Names. I find her Kavach very powerful. Once my daughter's house was close to being engulfed by forest fire. The sky was black with smoke. They were preparing to evacuate. I chanted my heart out to Kali. Suddenly the winds changed direction and the fire stopped 10 blocks from their house. The sky opened up above her house (where we were chanting) and became a pure blue. Surrounding us on three sides were devastating fires. Jai Kali Maa. Always remember to chant Her names in the midst of a forest conflagration or any danger. Another time my daughter and I were in hurricane force winds on the top of a mountain overlooking the ocean. I started chanting Kali's mantra. There was sudden and complete silence like I had never "heard" before. The winds completely stopped. The peace was like being held in a mother's arms. When I stopped chanting, the winds took up with a fury. As we were walking back to our car the storm totally overtook us and we couldn't even stand upright. Kali showed us her fury and her grace.
