I share your feeling. It struck me raw when I read Bala's words

about the 30-feet Kali figure in front of the swami.

 

Hi Bala:

You had another story you once told me about Amma appearing as Kali

to another lady devoteee (peeping at the end of Devi Bhava). Do you

mind sharing it? I don't think my words can do justice to the story

as would yours. .

the normal

mood...

whatver. i dont know what she was curious about, but

see what goes on behind the curtain.

 

We all know we are not supposed to peek thru

curtains.. no no.. this is

a

very bad thing to do..

 

But this poor lady couldnt control herself- she

decided to take a peek-

 

she opened the curtain-....

 

.... and found a HUGE KALI STARING BACK AT HER!!!!-

With Tongue hanging,

Eyes

ferocious, skull garland and all!!!!!!

 

she screamed, fainted and fell down ! She also got a

high fever that

lasted

her a week!!!!

 

Amma certainly cured her of her curiosity in a novel

scary blessed way!

 

But how blessed! Even while scaring the wits out of

the poor lady, Amma

gave

her the incredible blessing of having a darshan of

Mother Kali...

 

Incidentally, this lady still comes to Amritapuri-

only thing that has

changed is -she has stopped calling Amma as 'Amma'.

After this incident

she

always addresses Amma as 'Kali'. And , i guess, has

pretty much

surrendered

herself to Amma knowing first hand that Amma is Kali

Herself.

Great story Balaji.

 

As many might know, there is a very similar story from Sri

Ramakrishna's life. Once Mathur Babu, Sri Ramakrishna's provider of

material needs, hid on a terrace to watch Sri Ramakrishna's actions

at night. Mathur wanted to verify for himself that Sri Ramakrishna

(Thakur) was not making conjugal visits to see his wife, Holy Mother

Sarada Devi, in the dead of night when no one was about.

 

That night, Sri Ramakrishna was restless and could not sleep. After

a while he took to pacing up and down in his veranda. But what

Mathur saw was a shocking affirmation of Thakur's divine nature. The

form that was pacing up and down was Thakur, when moving forward and

Shiva, complete with matted locks and all, on the return traverse.

Mathur Babu realized he had been at once privileged and humbled with

a divine vision and his doubt was destroyed.

Well, it wasn't *for* Her (except in the way of being sung as an offering) as

much as it was

*to* Her! I'm quite sure that Amma doesn't need a lullaby from me! The words

and the

tune came to me after suffering a very devastating loss, and I'm sure it was

Amma, letting

me know how to connect with Her, in tenderness, through what I was suffering at

the time.

 

I'm still in training, so I don't specialize in anything yet, though I'm very

interested in

visualization and imagery. Why do you ask? Feel free to email off-list if you'd

prefer...
