Math hands over keys of 89 houses for tsunami victims

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Six months after the killer

tsunami hit the coastal belt, the Mata Amritanandamayi

Math on Sunday handed over 89 houses to the victims in

Alappuzha district of Kerala.

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy received the keys from

Math representative Swami Amritakripanandapuri at a

function held at Amritapuri.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said the

Math was at the forefront of tsunami relief and

rehabilitation operations.

A release said the Math had finished building 122

houses in Kerala and the concreting work of 30 houses

in Tamil Nadu was over.

In the worst-hit Alappad area, the Kerala Government

had entrusted the ashram with the task of building

1,400 houses. Of this, concreting work of 100 houses

were over and work was in full swing in nine of the 13
