Guest guest
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Amma: Will try to convey some of the flavor of last weekend's Northwest Retreat in snippets. Here are thumbnails frightfully out of sequence. 1) Flight got canceled OAK to SEA yet still arrived a little early. 2) I had not seen Amma for six and one half months. Wondered on the flight what Her first glance would be like. In my experience each (returning to U.S.) first glance is unique and other-worldly. The glance this tour was sweeping and included others standing on the side of me. Can divine expressions be conveyed any further? 3) Amma talked about the Yoga Camp for Child Tsunami victims. Mother spontaneously related the child victim's playful hi-jinks in the middle of Darshan. Big Swami was given a microphone to translate. Amma continued giving Darshan as she spoke to the retreatants. Amma said that some of the children hit a bee hive with a stick and the bees gave them chase. They had to run to the swimming pool for safety. Amma said it is a wonder that after antics like these not one child was hurt. She related that a boy running away from the bees jumped in the pool but could not swim. At exactly the right moment he was saved. Does anyone on this list think Amma played a part in this? For description of the event http://www.amritapuri.org/tsunami/sunami38.php 3) During Devi Bhava I went for Darshan at about 4:00 am. My token number was 2300. A teenager in a wheelchair received Darshan right before me. Amma's love toward this devotee was immeasurable. As the wheelchair bound young woman left Amma's embrace her face glowed like every light in creation. Beaming is not an adequate description. Ecstatic expression is inadequate. My vocabulary falls short. 4) Their is a brand new film on Amritapuri during the Tsunami that was screened in the bookstore section showing excellent footage of Amma wearing life jacket safety gear in Her Indian style ankle length bathing suit waving escapees across the current. Amma is equi-poised. calm, STRONG yet comforting in the footage. One scene grabbed me. A western man is about to cross and Amma stops him. Most of those crossing the water are being waved through with Amma shouting to go quickly. This tall man in white is stopped cold. The sub-titles translate Her Malayalam. Amma: Did you bring your passport? Western Man: No Amma Amma: Go back you must have it. Western Man goes back. I am still stunned that through the maelstrom and mayhem of extreme danger Amma had the presence of mind and detail orientation to observe the individual need of each one crossing. With this very thought I looked up at the stage as Amma was giving Darshan with renewed awe toward our loving PROTECTER!!!. Must stop now. She writes the following in regard to your post: "the person who pulled him out had gone to the pool earlier that she had planned due to a nudging thought that it wouldn't hurt and she might regret not going early - one never knows. And she thinks Amma definitely played all the parts." Discover Have fun online with music videos, cool games, IM & more. Check it out! Aum Amriteswarayai Namaha!
