So what? Dear Rick ~ omniscience is one of the "trademarks," so to speak, of a guru, avatar, or whatever word one wants to use. I have read many stories from people who have experienced Amma's omniscience, including a devotee who, in a sense, was testing Her, just to find out if Amma was a true guru. To me, this is not the most significant thing, but what Amma is and does. As the Keb Mo song says, "actions speak louder than words." Is it? Seems to me Self-realization and the ability to awaken others to That are the only meaningful criteria. Also, not all gurus are avatars and not all avatars are gurus (as far as I know). >I have read many stories from > people who have experienced Amma's omniscience, including a devotee who, in a > sense, was testing Her, just to find out if Amma was a true guru. I agree, and restate, that Amma knows things that couldn't be known by an ordinary person. This is a siddhi by which an enlightened person can know pretty much anything, one thing at a time. But true omniscience means knowing all things everywhere at all times, which is not possible in a human body. If Amma had that sort of omniscience, she would be aware of my typing this email. I very much doubt that she is. Nor do I need her to be in order to love and revere her as perhaps the highest being on the planet. >To me, this > is > not the most significant thing, but what Amma is and does.
