How would they be sheltered? How could they eat, with neither cooking facilities nor the money to buy food?... Now it is more than three months later, and many who first came forward have exhausted their funds or time or volunteers, or have moved on to help in some other worthy cause. Only a few are still serving the tsunami affected. The M. A. Math in Kerala, India, is among those few. A villager who has lost everything put it this way: “If Amma (Mata Amritanandamayi, founder of the Math) hadn’t been there, we’d be dead now. We’d have starved, or rioted. She took care of us the first day and she’s still taking care of us.†Dear balakrishnan ~ it is interesting that in this digest there are two posts that remind us that the tsunami efforts still (and must) continue. After the initial horror and the news have abated, and the charities have gone home, the work is not done, and, as I said in response to Adriane's post, MUST continue. We are so lucky, and so are the people still suffering the affects of the tsunami, to have Amma and her devotees to continue the work. How can we say "thank you" to these people, besides giving a donation, I mean. Can we send a letter to the M.A. Math, thanking all the people who are helping for their tireless efforts, that what they do is not lost to us and we appreciate it. Is there any chance that the M.A. Center here in the U.S. might do another online auction? That was such a wonderful way to participate. I am going to print out what you have written and take it to our next (2nd) Amma Satsang and read it to the group. I want the group to know that Amma is about more than just prayer or puja or bhajans. Thank you for reminding us with such vivid details.
