Circle of Love Inside Book Donation

Some of you know that Circle of Love Inside sends Amma books to

prisoners who request them. Usually these are individual books,

generally the biography of Amma. We were having a really hard time

getting book through to inmates in one prison in Rockford, IL. A

Christian group was running the prison library and all books had to go

through the Chaplain. He just didn't give books that we sent to the

prisoners. Not only that, but then he'd go try to convince th eman to

return to Jesus.

 

We decided to try giving a set of Awaken, Children books to the

library o that the men could take them ut rather than trying to get

individual books to inmates. Very shortly, we realized that this also

would not work.

 

The set of Awaken, Children books was sent to the Rockford jail months

ago before I could tell not to send it. I heard that the Christian

chaplain's assistant was THROWING OUT the Awaken, Children series. An

inmate named Teddy saw what she was doing and asked her not to throw

them out. He looked at one volume and said "Hey, these books are

deep. Don't throw them away." Instead of tossing them, she gave all

the books to Teddy. He shared the books with others. One man read the

book he borrowed in one session--all night long! Teddy gave some

books away to men who were being released into the community of

Rockford, IL (with their Awaken, Children book).

 

Teddy told that is was only after he read Amma's book, that he gained

inner peace. Now he just misses his daughter and gets comfort from

what Amma called "aloneness" in the Awaken, Children b
