Guest guest
Namaste Supriti, I am not sure on the ritual side of this, but perhaps you and some of the rest of us are meant to NOT know so that we can be like children and learn fresh. We have the privilege to be innocent from it and we have the privilege to learn first hand from our Mother. If we were going with a Catholic background we might go in with the attitude that we know everything there is to know about how to "be" a Catholic, its possible our ego's might be in the way of our spiritual progress. Maybe not all but for some. We pick up on things here or there and we go around like a child practicing them, immatating our parent. As children we are innocent and ready to learn anything new, as adults we think we know everything there is to know. I don't really think that it is totally necessary to know all the ways to worship our Mother, as long as you know with your heart how to act then your on the right track. And you are a child Supriti, I have seen your innocence, you seem to worship Amma with more devotion than I have seen in any one devotee. You were my inspiration when I first came to see Amma. You pour out devotion with pure abandonment. My advice, don't try to learn it all at once and don't expect to learn it over night, it takes weeks, months, years, lifetimes to learn things. If you see something your curious about, ask questions. This is what I do. If I tried to cram it all in I would be overwhelmed. Maybe there are some books you can read? Just to familiarize myself with the Hindu Religion at all I went out and bought the book The idiots guide to Hinduism. Its helpful on the history of Hinduism and the Gods and Goddess etc. I was SO determined to learn that I memorized a lot of the book. This was when I had been from this religion to that, until I finally said to myself, OK THIS is it I felt pulled to the Hindu religion more than anything, I made a conscious decision to follow only the Hindu path. I was flying from religion to religion never making any progress, never giving it a chance. I found Hinduism rich and pure. That is when I went to get the book Idiots guide to Hinduism. When I made this decision consciously, Amma came into my life. I remember watching everyone singing bhajans at the program last year and I wanted SO badly to sing too but didn't know them. I was SO blissed out when I got back, I was determined to learn all the bhajans I could. I sat down every single night for three months and sang bhajan after bhajan, now I know so many bhajans because I was determined to learn them. I am also a big observer, I watch what people do and ask them why they do it and then I join in if I feel its something I find devotional. My point, if you put your mind to it Supriti you can learn anything in any amount of time. Just have the will to do it and the patience. If it something you REALLY, truly want, it will happen. I hope some of this helps. I laugh at you because you always remind me of Amma innocently pouting. All my love Supriti. Blindly following the rituals of worship and devotion (as simple as bowing when entering the Ashram/temple/hall) which I forget to do sometimes makes me feel inadequate and then I feel discouraged. Don't follow blindly, follow consciously, KNOW what you are doing it and why, if you don't know why then ask someone "why do we do this". Be conscious of why are bowing down, because we are humbling ourselves to Amma, so become humble. You are not inadequate you are learning, and never become discouraged, think if you had become discouraged if you kept falling off your bike! You would never learn how to ride. If you don't learn how to ride, then how will you get there? At Amma's Lotus Feet, Robin
