Using my mantra, staying in the moment & focusing on my breath, were invaluable tools for dealing with common situations there. Dear Sweta ~ your sharing of how you dealt with other people's "stuff" is immensely helpful and timely for me. I awoke this morning from a terrible nightmare about my mother. Our relationship has been strained over the past few years for reasons I won't go into. But the tools you mention I know will be helpful as well as focusing on my true Mother, Amma, while doing my best to acknowledge as impartially as I can my own biological mother. Guest guest
Here are more lessons I need to remember ... I better take notes! While working at the shelter, I never knew what to expect when I opened the office door. I learned to pray before answering it, usually for something like a loving heart. Sometimes chanting "Om Amriteswaryai Namaha," as a way of asking for Amma's attention to a situation, aided surrending outcomes. And, the shelter work helped cultivate a servant's attitude. When dealing with difficult situations, sometimes I visualized Amma stroking the involved persons' hearts. The way I see it, Amma played a direct part in the shelter job offer. We are so fortunate to have Amma as our teacher, in Her school of life! nierika wrote: Sweta wrote: Realizing the residents behavior spoke volumes about them, & usually very little, if anything at all about me, helped for not taking much personally.
