Namah Shivaya Linda,

In great part due to Queen Bee related issues, I switched satsangs. As a result

of this experience, I feel it would be beneficial for all satsangs to adopt

guidelines that help ensure Amma's satsangs are fully inclusive, & serve to

support, rather than alienate their members & members' families.

It can be difficult to deal with people who want to have power over us. As Amma

says, we respond from our pasts. In light of this, I'm seeing working at the

shelter that served dually diagnosed people as an invaluable life & spiritual

learning experience. I'm beginning to understand that it would be very helpful

to bring the detached attitude working there as a night counselor necessitated,

into all areas of life.

You know how hard it can be at Amma's programs when so much of so many peoples'

stuff just bubbles up? It's seems akin to being in a massive traffic jam with

all sorts of personalities, & often during Devi Bhava after we've been up all

night long! At the shelter, I needed to be alert & expected people to react

from their past. Realizing the residents behavior spoke volumes about them, &

usually very little, if anything at all about me, helped for not taking much

personally. Using my mantra, staying in the moment & focusing on my breath,

were invaluable tools for dealing with common situations there. I think the

Universe was teaching me how it would be best to approach all of life. With

this kind of detached attitude, bee stings won't get stay under our skin so

easily!

This I've witnessed even as a "Queen Bee" is not admitting to taking power

over others. So, I don't know how this would go over with the currently

reigning "Queen Bees."

Dear Sweta ~ You are certainly right ~ I have had this experience of a Queen

Bee not acknowledging her Queen Beeism, yet stepping in front of the actual

coordinator to try and run everything. This type of experience is very

detrimental and toxic, both to the group and to whatever the group is doing.

Since

our satsang hasn't started yet, there isn't any Queen Bee. I believe that, at

our first meeting I want to suggest spending some time discussing structure

(e.g., who is serving as the coordinator and will the position be rotated,

what kinds of activities people want to include, etc.) I have no experience at

this, but I did get a lot of helpful information from the SW Satsang

Coordinator. I have had experience working in several groups where the people

in the

group were very mindful of structuring the group to avoid Queen Beeism,

although the way we discussed it was to give everyone an opportunity to be in

the

"leadership" position. Leadership is a fact and an issue whenever a group is

involved, so I believe the more mindful the group can be about this, both in

the sense of sharing the role and in the sense of not getting anyone's ego too

entrenched, the better our experience will be. Jai Ma ~ Linda
