No one counted how many people were daunted by the crowds at the 2004 public program and went home without getting a darshan.. or couldn't even get into the hotel. Although the local media won't be hyping the novelty of Amma's first-ever visit, there will be enough advance publicity in the Toronto area that when July rolls around you would have to be living under a rock not to know that Amma is returning. > > Ow!!!That truly sucks the big one! The Pats moved their training camp from Bryant to Foxboro two years ago. If they don't have the RI retreat, I would presume they would replace it with a a couple more public progams and a devi bhava in Boston (Boston usually gets just one public program, and no devi bhava). I would think that Washington DC is owed one or two extra programs, to make up for last year's on-again-off-again thing. Keval Mail - 250MB free storage. Do more. Guest guest
Granted, I am close to NYC but I do not especially want to see Amma in a frenzied city setting. RI was a peaceful oasis, you know? And every other retreat is too far away for me (I can't afford the travel expenses on top of the retreat expenses) -- with the exception of Boston, which is only a public program. Without RI, I agree with Avram: This is very bad news, indeed. Much love and sadness, Christine Ammachi, Mike Brooker <patria1818> wrote: > > Ow!!!That truly sucks the big one! Guest guest
I attended a satsang today in Worcester, MA, at the home of one of the two organizers for New England events. The latest plan is that there will indeed be a retreat in New England. It will not be at the usual scenic Smithfield, RI location, because Bryant College has decided to stop leasing its property to outside parties. The location is still being scouted, but it may well end up in eastern MA, and devotees on the retreat may have to live in one of several hotels, just like they have to do in retreats in other cities. This is because it is difficult to find a university that will allow cooking. The tentative dates for the retreat are July 22-24. A nice bonus for us New Englanders...the Massachusetts program will be on Guru Purnimah.
