Guest guest
Namah Shivaya, I am curious to know more about the song "Mano Budhya" or "Mano Buddhi". I find the lyrics of this song very powerful. I understand that it was composed by Adi Shankaracharya. I have only heard it on Amma's Bhajan tapes. I have never heard her sing it live. Has anyone on this digest heard her sing this song? I am told that only she sings it/has the authority to sing it and none of her swamis can. I am unsure if this is just hearsay or there is some truth in it. I have also heard that she only sings this song if one of her disciples has achieved realization. This I thought might be far fetched though. Has anyone heard of this? Sunita Take Mail with you! Get it on your mobile phone.

In the tape though, the swamis are singing with Her, so I am unsure about them NOT authorized to sing at all. Anyway, there is another song, which ONLY She sings - and that is Ananda Veedhi. Did not know that She sings specific songs only when someone escapes the morass called samsaric life. could be true though! like the tolling bell of celebrations! . Very interesting topic. Thanks! Guest guest
Shankara's hymn Nivanashtakam has become a popular hymn, such by many people. I think the version in the bhajan book is slightly different than Shankara's original. Here is a link to Shankara's prayer at http://www.theinspiredjourney.com/Mantras/DevaPremal/ChidanandaRupaMa ntra.cfm It seems there is a Real Audio recording at that site as well. I'm unaware of any restrictions on the use of this bhajan. I think the community in San Ramon has sung it at Saturday night satsang.
