Salutations: Dear Menoj: This wayward Son wonders why devotees shy away from the destructive aspect of God?. With all of medicine and science has one being on this planet escaped death? Even Avatars bodies (as it were) become dust. In the Gita Lord Krishna asks Arjuna not to fret because Arjuna's opponents are already dead (defeated by God) before the arrows fly. When Krishna reveals to Arjuna His true form it is so terrible that Arjuna begs that his erstwhile "friend" go back to His more 'benign' form. The destructive aspect of God is a fact. Why pour peanut butter over this fact to make it more palatable? Please realize this is only one opinion. There are infinite views on Shiva's so called 'dance" Menoj said Shiva is sarva-mangala - All-auspicious. This ignorant Son agrees. Shiva and auspiciousness are One Menoj explained However with Shiva one never says Sri because the name is dripping with all-auspiciousness Georgeson opines: This is a very beautiful explanation. Somewhere I was told that Shiva can be described as pure consciousness itself. If Shiva is purity itself then no descriptives are necessary. To add limiting Adjuncts to His Symbolic Form is to take away from His un-alloyed purity. Maple syrup directly from the tree without additives needs no enhancement(s). So it is contended that to define Him contains Him therefore it un- necessarily diminishes His grandeur. At any rate, the image of Shiva is too subtle for the gross mind of GeorgeSon. Did'nt stop my mind from giving it a shot. Peace, GeorgeSon
