Another thing endearing about Shiva is that he is one of the

simplest of Gods, and the easiest to gift boons. The Supreme

Kindness of this God is beyond conception. Another name for Shiva is

Bhola-Nath or Bhole-Nath (Bhola - Innocent). Sri Ramakrishna

Paramahansa says that worshipping Shiva with bilva leaves and water

and a few flowers is enough to please him; no complex rituals needed

to satisfy this simple God. He (who is an ascetic and lives

Dear menoj ~ thank you so much for sharing this description of Shiva. I love

Shiva! For my birthday, I got from my sister a medium sized statuette of

Shiva Nataraj (dancing Shiva), and I was sooooo happy. I had been wanting one

for so long, and now my prayer had been answered. I have a question. On a

chanting tape (all songs devoted to Shiva), there is a line in one that says:

"Bola, Bola, Subamilla Bola, Aum Namah Shivaya." Do you know if the Bola in this

context is the same you mentioned ~ innocent? I had been told that Bola meant

to sing, so I have been thinking the line meant sing, sing, sing to Shiva.
