Guest guest
Om Namah Shivaya, This is an update to my prayer request last Friday regarding my job. I am so happy & excited after talking to my new manager today. The new job will be at a fairly small residential program for people with a dual diagnosis. I am actually being given the opportunity to teach meditation! (Any pointers from knowledgeable meditation instructors will be very appreciated.) Rather than working 4 nights a week, I'll soon work 3 nights & 1 day, which will give me more opportunities for constructive interactions with residents. The manager's work philosophies are are very open & compatible. Plus, I can bring all of myself (& Amma!) to the job, for people to take from it what they want :) Another employee goes to sweat lodges, & so brings Native American spiritual instructors to the program, someone else will soon teach yoga or movement. Gee, maybe someone will want to chant archana at 5AM (lol). Amma is so extremely good to me. Love & thank you so much for any prayers. Guest guest
Swetaji: CONGRATULATIONS and best wishes!! On meditation Amma did not teach complicated long-winded techniques; her instructions were simple "Focus on the breath" so this may be a good starting point. As deceptively simple as it sounds, I feel this an endless learning journey; the more you learn, the more you realize that we know very little. A good starting point would be Larry Rosenberg, breathwalking, books on vipassana/anapana, Ham-Sa/So-Hum meditation - just my 2c. -Vijay Ammachi, wrote: > Om Namah Shivaya, > > This is an update to my prayer request last Friday regarding my job. Guest guest
Dear Sweta, Guided mindfulness meditations tend to work well among these populations. Especially depending on the diagnoses, providing more structure than "focus on the breath" would probably be a good idea. That can be challenging for people with certain mental illnesses. Anyway, that's wonderful news! Namah Shivaya, Iswari Ammachi, wrote: > Om Namah Shivaya, > > This is an update to my prayer request last Friday regarding my job. Can you recommend a book or other resources for guided mindfulness? Some of these people have a severe enough diagnosis, that they are under a conservatorship. To help me relate better, I want to take a Hearing Voices Training, being offered in Feb. & March. "Anyway, that's wonderful news!" It is! I feel so blessed by the opportunity to possibly be an instrument for helping Amma's children, potentially on a spiritual level. Thank you very much for the information. Guest guest
CONGRATULATIONS and best wishes!! Thank you very much! Larry Rosenberg, breathwalking, books on vipassana/anapana, Ham-Sa/So-Hum meditation - I'll check into these. I've watched videos about Vipassana meditation. Before Amma gave a personal mantra to me, I often meditated using the mantra So-Ham, which was very effective. I appreciate your recommendations. Mail - Easier than ever with enhanced search.
