Guest guest
I am experiencing bouts of anxiety and trying to surrender to Amma, How does one actually do this? Namah Shivaya Dana, Here is what is helping me to deal with anxiety & surrender. Apparently love & fear cannot coexist in our hearts, so filling our hearts with love works well. Someone said we feel love when we give thanks. Amma says to be thankful for good, bad, right & wrong, friend & enemy, etc ... Serving & praying for others can fill our hearts with compassionate love, plus take our minds off of ourselves. Also helpful are meditation & reminding myself that I'm not the body. To build faith: satsangs; carrying a blessed rose petal, vibhuthi or picture of Amma; holding an Amma doll to my heart, spiritual practices. A devotee spoke about surrender & suggested remembering Amma at the start of activities, while doing the best we can to do what Amma tells us to do. Following is one way I've tried to follow this excellent advice. Either mentally or verbally, chant Om Amriteshwaryai Namah a few times. Then, visualize Amma walking before me, or maybe holding my hand. Also, leaving the results of whatever is causing me anxiety in Amma's hands. (Sometimes I tell God that even the results of my mistakes are up to Him.) While entertaining childrens' parties that have been scheduled too closely together, this has worked miraculously well. Just imagine walking up to a large group of expectant people outside of a house, staring at you, when you're VERY late! The first time I remember doing this, as I arrived the hostess was ready to cancel the party. But, in the end the host gave a large tip, even though the entertainment began 1 hour late. I firmly believe Amma has helped me this way. It helps to surrender by thinking that everything is God's & desire to serve God, rather than my own agenda. While feeling anxious about the possible Earth changes, fear completely vanished while repeatedly singing "Guru Caranam Sadguru." (Bhajan Book III, page 65) Here is the English translation: "The Guru's feet, the Satguru's feet, Amritanandamayi's feet - they annihilate fear of transmigratory existence." "I offer my obeisance to the Satguru's feet which are worshipped by all the devotees, which are blessed by the presence of all the gods & goddesses, and which bring the cycle of births & deaths to an end." "The Satguru's greatness is indescribable. I bow down to the Satguru's feet, which remind one of the unity of the individual soul & the Supreme." Thank you for helping me with your thought provoking question. With love, Sweta "Remember: Mother is always with you. Love each other, serve others selflessly. And never forget to do your practices."
