Guest guest
Namah shivaya With regard to the $23 million that Amma has said that She would give towards those affected by the tsunami disaster- well, Amma did say that many of Her previous projects ( like the 25000 homes for poor or the AIMS hospital too) were initiated against tremendous odds- but by God's grace and the selflessness of 'Her children' these projects worked out successfully. Amma has been profoundly moved by the widespread suffering the tsunami has caused. There is a picture on a malayalam newspaper front page that shows Amma crying while giving darshan- the picture is truly heartbreaking . When Her compassionate heart is moved , She does not need to calculate like us as to how She will carry out huge projects. She knows that by the sheer force of Her Love, and the Love in Her children's hearts anything is posible. So now it is up to us- each one of us to contribute towards Amma's noble cause. Amma has at least a million devotees all over the world. If each one of us contribute even $100 , then Her figure of 23 milion is easily reached. Now is the time for us to give to Her cause. Let us cut back on other expenses and offer something to Amma. We can help in numerous ways- send a check, set up a bake sale, a garage sale, stop eating out so often and send that money to Her, hold fund raising dinners/luncheons, -or even fly to india and participate in the daily seva that is going on. My friends in Amritapuri tell me that every day thousands of villagers are being fed. Every morning thousands of kilograms of 'uppuma' is sent out for breakfast and during lunch thousands of kilograms of rice , dhal etc. The ashram has not slept since dec 26th. Some of my friends have also gone to nagapattinam and other villages in the east coast where they have set up medical camps, food distribution centers etc. Other than the government, Amma's organization is feeding and helping the largest number of people. Many of the survivors are also saying that it is Amma's disciples who are bringing them good cheer- because unlike govt officials who drop off food packets and drive off, leaving the villagers to eat alone in their misery, Ammma's brahmacharies not only serve food, but they sit with the villagers, eat with them , talk to them, pray with them, conduct rituals for the dead, rebuild their houses, give them counselling etc. Yesterday on the internet chat , a resident of Amritapuri told me that thousands of villagers are pouring into amritapuri. There is a constant stream of people from all over asking for help and volunteering too. So much is going on there and we from here will have to help equally . So let us also make huge efforts here . remember how we collected money and gave for Amma's amritakuteeram. Let us start a fund collection and send Her checks from our behalf- how does this idea sound? remember that we, Amma's children should help Her come up with $23 million. let us not ask how She is going to do it. let us ask how WE are going to do it. bala sprose1 wrote: In a message dated 1/14/2005 10:18:23 PM Eastern Standard Time, Ammachi writes: On behalf of the Canadian devotees, Amma Foundation > of Canada has sent a > cheque for $25000.00 CDN ( Twenty-five thousand > Canadian dollars) to > M.A.Math, in Amritapuri , Kerala, India . Anyone know how She intends to come up with 23 million? At first, I accepted it, but upon reflection it seems hard to see where it would come from. A few million, perhaps, but some cynics have said that it is less than true. the auctions come up with thousands, but not hundreds of thousands, even less millions. Donations are generally not too much: not inconsiderable, but not to the tune of 23 million dollars. that's a lot of dough! Perhaps someone knows something they might share as to this? Today 2/1/05 the United Nations appointed Bill Clinton as Tsunami Relief "Czar". The Iowa Satsang back in January raised a very substantial amount. Let this Group be heard! Can we get activated? Secretary General Annan was quoted as selecting the high profile Clinton so that public interest does not wane. But our Amma is looking across the Ocean to Her Western Children. Is she seeing tamasic inactivity? Include me in any collective effort. We could pray for Her Grace FIRST in any endeavor big or small. Thanks for your concern. The way I look at it, you need not be part of a "group" to donate to Amma. Instead, why don't each one donate to Amma individually also (note the word "also") using the website that the MA Center has provided us? Here is the link: https://www.mothersbooks.org/donations/make-a-donation.html Here is a suggestion: Do a 'sankalpa' to donate x $ (fill in the amount yourself) every month for the next 6 months. Let's use this example: if 50 people from this group decide to donate $50 every month using the website, then by July end, we will have collectively donated $15,000! The more the people, and the more the monthly contributions ($50 was just an example), the better. Let's do our silent parts to do Amma's bidding, and eventually help the affected folks. Jai Ma! Guest guest
This Saturday, the Queens (NYC) satsang will be hosting a bhajan fundraiser, at the big Ganesh temple in Flushing (45-57 Bowne St.), beginning at 5pm, until about 7, I think. Also, not related to the tsunami, Dayamrita swami will be here for a one-day retreat on Sun, Feb 12. 10 am to 5 pm, Skyline Hotel, 725 Tenth Avenue, at 49th Street. Cost is $40. If interested, you can email me for the RSVP info (necessary for food prep and such). Namah Shivaya, Iswari Ammachi, "leokomor" <leokomor> wrote: > Can we re-start this noble effort?
