Guest guest
Amma's Love inspires devotees to take up difficult tasks. Once, having entered in a very bad and horribly filthy toilet situation in Cochin, I turned around and quickly exited the scene. Amma, please clean my mind and heart of impurities so I can be a daughter whose actions and thoughts make You smile. sarama -- http://www.amritapuri.org/tsunami/toilets.php Who Are They? 2 January 2005 — Ochira, Kerala "Who are they?" This was the question asked by most as they saw the team of Westerners from the Ashram cleaning up toilets that hadn't been cleaned for months and which local health authorities had closed down as being unhygienic and unhealthy. cleaning toilets There were 20 sealed toilets at the government-run relief camp in Ochira. When a group of Amma's visiting devotees and brahmacharis came to clean the camp, the local officials there asked them if they could do something about the toilets. The devotees—most of who were from the West—were willing to do the work. So they all put on gloves and masks and entered. What they saw they will never forget: the most disgusting toilets on the planet ever. In order to do the job properly, they literally had to scoop out excreta with their hands. Chidambaram, a devotee from Los Angeles, says that the local government staff and some of the evacuees had gathered around, and the question on their faces was clear: "Why are they doing what we ourselves wouldn't do?" "I thought, 'Dirty toilets need to be cleaned,'" says Chidambaram, an American from Los Angeles. "But others were gagging and covering their nose and mouth." The local authorities were so impressed that they called a photographer. In the end, when the toilets looked as good as new, the astounded government officials asked, "How could you do it? What motivated you to do it?" And the answer was the same from all the Westerners: "It is Amma's love and what She teaches through Her life that motivated us to do it." One of the brahmacharis on the site added, "It is the love that they've received from Amma that they are now giving out to the world." —Tulasi
Guest guest
uphhh !!! that is really inspiring sara.. myself also does this sometimes in my own office thinking that If Amma can clean our dirty hearts then why can't I do this little work in return. Ofcourse it cannot be compared with the public toilets . In general Se'wahh' is multidimensional ( seva in most of the indian languages means service ). It is not just for karmic relief. It works at all levels. It helps to purify our heart which is contaminated with lots of dislikes. It helps us to watch how much ego we are having. Many times even if we have done seva sincerely we will be getting only complaints as the feedback. ha ha !!! Isn't that we too were doing back to the divine all the time.. complaints , comparisons & complains .. lol .. " look , all others are having or living so and so , But I am only one in this earth not having or living ..... bla bla " .. hi hee !!!.. Is n't it ?. The nature is doing the work without fail. I have never noticed delay for the sunshine !!! ) . It has a perfect mystic plan . Seva brings many back from the mind to body . It is an expression of gratitude to the divine . In some occasionas while working with poor people, It helps us to realise how fortunate we are. The energy then moves from the comparative mind to the compassionate heart. Many of our feverishnesses disappears during that mystic seWAHH process. Many people in the cosmopolitan cities lead a insecure tensed life style sometimes leading to depression. The reason is that all the time they were thiking about themselves. So amma is giving them an opportunity , to sow the seeds of compassion in their hearts. And at the end it helps us to start feeling the divinity inside, when few people shows their affection and gratitude to the people those who have served them .. I can imagine what the sava warriors might have felt when they left those kids . http://www.amritapuri.org/slideshow/flood/camp.php?sn=6 Aum Namah Shivayah Your little brother Ranjeesh "Relaxation is the method that heals the wounds of the mind, not reaction." —Amma Ammachi, "sara" <saramj33> wrote: > > Amma's Love inspires devotees to take up difficult tasks.
