Guest guest
Jay Ma I have heard that before Amma gives a mantra She asks for Ishta Devata , what if one does not have one favorite but few ? for example i like quite few idols , such as Vishnu , Devi , Krishna , Shirdi etc... I mean the list could go on . I think it is hard to choose who is favorite at least for me . Joanna P. Dress up your holiday email, Hollywood style. Learn more. http://celebrity.mail. Guest guest
sevaral options: 1. CHOOSE which deity's mantra you will like best amongst your favorites. 2. Do a jyotish reading to find out your fav deity. take a mantra for that. 3. Surrender to Amma, and tell her you are unable to make up your mind, and that She can give you whatever mantra She feels is best for you (looks like this will be the ultimate test of surrender! because if the mantra is the most precious gift you can ever receive from a Guru or in life in general, then asking Amma to choose it for you sounds like surrender to Her. duh! why did I not choose this option when my mantra was being given?). Although this option sounds very romantic and feel-goody, there is no predicting if Amma will happily (or unhappily) accept this choice; atleast I know of no precedent. Good luck! Jai Ma! Certain deities and their mantras have a past life association with us and so give faster results. It is best to take up the mantra of a such a deity. This is usually indicated in the natal chart- and so is a good idea to get a reading done by a good astrologer(eg William Levacy, Braha, Chakrapani Ullal etc). And it is also said that if you have a strong liking for a certain deity, this supercedes any astrological indications. -yogaman
Guest guest
Namah Shivayah, Actually, Amma asks that the person receiving the mantra participate in the process by choosing either a beloved diety or a divine quality that attracts them. For westerners, it is often better to choose a quality, as they don't have the history of a chosen diety, (unless it is Jesus Christ) as the easterners do. This should be a heart process, NOT a mental process, and should be something the person will feel happy concentrating on for the rest of this life. If you are really undecided, you can choose Amma as your focal point of devotion, but you can not go up there and say, "Amma choose." (This is also what I would have liked to do, but Amma chooses anyway, it seems.) Never fear, you will get the mantra that is right for you. I promise. Guest guest
I heard that "in the beginning" Amma used to give mantrtas to people and the swami would give ht epiece of paper with the mantra written on it. After the program Amma saw all the little pieces of paper all over the floor. She realized that the people coming to her didn't understand what a mantra was. Thus the various classes were added. I especially appreciate that Amma includes you and your preferences when giving you a mantra. Just like a good mother!
