Dear Joanna p ~ I have several thoughts on this matter. One, you are perhaps

letting your experience with the previous guru color your expectations of

what Amma also won't do. I have never heard of anyone not wanting a mantra

getting turned away. Also, since Amma knows everything, she knows you want a

mantra and perhaps her giving you the vibhuti with the Om Namah Shivaya was an

interim measure until you get your courage up. So you could use that as your

mantra for the time being, since, in a sense, Amma did give it to you.

 

Second, I know that if one wants a mantra, at least in the past when I got

mine, you needed to know what kind of mantra you wanted. For example, my sister

wanted a Hunuman mantra, so that is what she got. I wanted an Amma mantra,

so that is what I got. Some people ask for Jesus mantras, or Saraswati, or

Krishna, etc, etc., you get the picture.

 

If you see Amma this summer, write on a piece of paper so you don't get

overwhelmed and forget, the type of mantra you want (what diety), get in the
