Aum Amriteswaryai Namah! Dear list members, I wish to add to Ajith's account and Swamiji's advice on the same. Among the vast treasure trove of mantras, some of them are, what one might called "universal solvents" of mantras. you can chant them anywhere, anytime, without consideration of bodily purity, location, or the deity before which it is chanted. Maha mantras like Aum Namah Sivaya, Hare Krishna.. are examples. Aum Amriteswaryai Namah is yet another Maha Mantra that adds to the auspiciousness and positive charge in the envt were it is charged, regardless of the person chanting, or the location where its being chanted. Our "Aum Amriteswaryai Nama.." is definitely a very powerful one among Maha mantras. I wish to narate an incident that occured last year, in this regard. Last year, some of us devotees in Cochin, India (thats where Amma's 50th Birthday celebrations where held), got together for a workshop on mantras and it effects of daily life. Almost all those who came were chanters for a long time. One of the devotees (who also happened to be a scientist) brought his dowsing rods along (this is a device used for detecting the charge developed in the atmosphere, or on objects). At the end of the session, we tried chanting different mantras, and our scientist friend, measured the charged developed in the atmosphere where the chanting was going on. We tried all sorts of mantras. from slokams & sooktams to maha mantras and dhyana slokams. he measured the charge developed from the movement of the rods. the density of the charge generated by the mantra, caused the rods to swing faster or slow. More the charge, faster the movement of the rods. In the case of almost all the mantras, the rods moved in more or less the same speed. after our cache of age old mantras were exhausted, someone suggested, "Aum Amriteswaryai Namah..". All chanted the mantra with the same vigour, the rest of the mantras were chanted, but everyone at the workshop were amazed (some shocked) at the swiftness with which the rods swung, with just one chanting of the mantra!! i suggested we try it at a different location, as this location has already been quite charged by all the chanting. we tried it out at 2 other locations, but the same occurence repeated itself. we were all awestruck at the seeming change in lifeless rods at the chanting of the different mantras, but the ferocity in its movement while "Aum Amriteswaryai Nama..." was chanted left every single one of us there, spell bound!!! some could not contain there joy, some teary eyed, and some wide eyed and speechless! Darling children of Amma.... Aum Amriteswaryai Namah! In Amma, arun mon That's great. It's too bad that it had no effect on the population in the immediate vicinity, which is a fact which cries out for explanation. Don't you think?
