Guest guest
http://www.amma.org/amma/message-kanchi.html Kanchi Seer's arrest painful It was painful to learn about the arrest of Kanchi Acharya. It seems like a dream. And may it be nothing more than that... Through generations, these seers, beginning from Adi Shankaracharya, have been preserving in pristine form the great treasure of the Vedas, handed over to us by the sages. There should not be any weakening of this lineage. If that were to happen, it would be like putting salt into the milk of knowledge bestowed upon us by Mother Veda. There may be differences of opinion within the community. In the name of Adi Shankaracharya and the great tradition of the Vedas, we should go beyond such differences and move forward in unity. Otherwise, the divisions will only intensify, giving rise to more trouble. - Amma -- press release on 20 Nov 2004, San Ramon, USA

She doesn't seem to be saying much, other than it's painful to see him thrown in the slammer. Keval p.s.. my comments regarding the message "What is Ascension ? Do you think Amma would say it is painful to see a murderer(if he was guilty) treated in this manner? Anyhow the facts have emerged - that there is no direct proof at all of the involvment of Shankaracharya. The supposedly thorough police investigation was just hogwash it seems now. If this is the fate of a powerful and influential figure in India, then how terrible would it be for a commoner to have some fake case thrusted upon him. I recall that Amma had started a legal organization where all the lawyers took an oath to serve society etc etc? Anyone can provide me with the link?? -yogaman
Guest guest
Yogaman, I have tried emailing the lawyers on behalf of my family in India, but never got a reply back. I think I found the contact info at amritapuri.org. Guest guest
I'm quite surprised that the conversation about Shankaracharya is still continuing! I, for one, don't think it should be here on this list. It's such a touchy subject for so many. With love, Erica

Suppose some of those Indian cops, at the behest of Kerala's Communist-dominated state government, raided Amritapuri and busted, say, Swami Amritswarupananda, on some bogus fabricated charges? It's not totally unthinkable. As they said about a certain central European country some 60 years ago: First they came for the trade unionists and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist. Then they came for the Jews and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew... Keval Meet the all-new My - Try it today!

Guest guest
Dearest respected Yogaman, Please do not keep your 'big mouth shut'! This child loves your posts. I had noticed that posts were at least mentioning our beloved Amma. You are indeed cunning. Where do you get your news from India?
