The big boss created 4 mutts in the 4 corners of India - Sringeri in the south, Dwarki in the west, Puri in the east, and Badrinath(?) in the north. each of them has its own Shankaracharya. This Shankaracharya is from the 5th mutt - Kanchi. It is debatable if Adi Shankara himself created this mutt or not; debatable in the sense that there is no unanimity of opinion or grounding in sure facts. However, the Kanchi mutt has produced veritable saints of very high order; the most famous being the highly mystical Swami Chandrsekharenda Saraswati (Paramacharya), who was the Shankaracharya before this one. Think of the 5 Shankaracharyas as being the 'Pope' of the Hindu world. If there is any authority in the Hindu religion (and we all know there is so single definitive authority, just a bunch of individual mystical geniuses who have (not) had spectacular spiritual careers during their time), but if there is any one authority who has stood like a bedrock against eording time, then it is the office of the Shankaracharya. To give you some perspective of what this means, just imagine how the Christian world would have reacted if the Pope were arrested. Hell, so may child-sex scandals have been reported against Catholic priests and admitted to, yet there is no question of mass arrests. Now think of the anguish of the ordinary Hindu who sees his God being paraded to prison on this charge. He has been arrested on grounds that there is solid evidence that he personally ordered (viz, words issued from his mouth, not an underling's) the killing of the mutt's accountant. What the evidence is, I do not know.
Guest guest
Jay Ma Thank You all for the clarification my humble apologies for not knowing such individual , this must be distressing for a lot of Hindus I am not Catholic however I know a lot of close friends who where very distressed learning about abuse implications pertaining to church . Most of them either furthered their views to another perspective , others just lost faith . I don't know what to think of Pople He seems to be running a huge institution for some good for some bad ( again everything is very individual ) . On the overall what i have noticed in the past few years is that the basic religious institutions are loosing ground under their feet , and why such upheavals .Number of changes are taking its course . Actually the situation does not pertain to one particular group or religion it evolves around all establishments . That is why Ammachi is beautiful because She is free of that , main establishment lies within the heart . all the best to all regards Joanna P
