Guest guest
Hello All Can anyone recommend a simple "meal blessing" that I might teach my young children (and husband) so that we can begin our evening meal together with an Amma blessing? Thank you carolyn
Guest guest
One that I read about somewhere on the Amritapuri website, is ask that the food give us strength to serve & to find God. I think the same list suggested chanting a mantra while circling over the food 3 times with a palm filled with water, & to then drink the water. Guest guest
Carolyn: The food prayer chanted by Amma's group is "Brahmarpanam" from the Bhagavad Gita: Brahmarpanam brahma havir brahmagnau brahmanaahutam brahmaiva tena gantavyam brahma-karma-samadhina. Brahman is the ladle as well as the oblation. He is the sacrificial fire as also the sacrificer. And finally, Brahman is the goal of one who is engaged in the act of sacrifice. In simple terms, Dear Lord You are provider of this food, taster of this food and you're food itself. I take this food as a gift from you and I offer what I consume at Your Divine Lotus Feet. Uma. Even as a kindergartener, circa 1964, I took some time out from watching the Goldwater v. LBJ presidential race and the debate on Canada's new flag to wonder why "good" and "food" don't rhyme!
