Someone relayed that it's known to have been locked at 10:00PM, & so possible to end up spending the night in your car. But, at the last retreat I talked to people who stayed there with no problems. You night also check out Mt. Diablo (in Danville) but I believe it's just a little further away from the MA Center. Incidentally, Mt. Diablo is considered an especially spiritual place, probably from the time when Native Americans populated the area. I've felt a strong spiritual energy there. Located in Anthony Chabot Regional Park (in the hills between Oakland and Castro Valley). Reservations can be made from 12 weeks to 24 hours in advance. They have a flier with directions and other details. Please note that the campground has a strict 10:00 pm curfew when they lock the entry gate.
