Guest guest
I have been wearing a single rudraksha bead on a red cord (that it came with). Is it best to wear the bead hidden from view, or is it okay if others happen to see it? I haven't seen this question addressed on any of the rudraksha sites, and wonder if any of the efficacy is lost if the bead is worn so that it can be seen (similar to how many say that mala beads should be hidden in a mala bag and not exposed to view). Thanks for any advice, Rosetta
Guest guest
Are you doing any special energizing (pranaprathista) ritual for the single bead? If so (or if not so), do you feel any difference when you wear the bead (a bead with a lot of energy will feel differently when worn) - if yes, then it is best hidden from view. Otherwise showing to others does not make that much difference. A japa mala that is constantly used is embued with a lot of power, someone who sees this mala will absorb the energy of the mala so it is best hidden from view. -yogaman Ammachi, "rosaroja24" <rosaroja24> wrote: > > I have been wearing a single rudraksha bead on a red cord (that it > came with). Not only so it won't get in the way while doing yoga, but also so I don't get questions from non-devotees, e.g. "what's with those f***ing beads?"(from the same mullet-headed slob who asked if the picture of Amma on my desk was my girlfriend!). I used to have a rudraksha bead on a string and I also wore it out of view. But the string broke, so I put the bead on my Amma doll. There was just enough string left that it fit my doll perfectly. Guest guest
I've heard the same 2 points Yogaman made, but from a source other than Ammachi. I don't know what She would say about it. Also from another source, I heard it's good not to let the beads touch the ground for prolonged periods, as this may draw energy from them. An alter offf of the ground could be a good storage sopt. The same concept as some beginner yogi's not walking outside barefoot, to keep energy from being disapated. Also, it's said to be good to keep a mala in a small silk bag whe not worn, to protect it's energy. Amma says the most effective place to wear a single rudrahka bead is in the throat cavity. Guest guest
My husband's mother, who is almost 94 and more than a little senile, always worries when she sees his rudrakshas under his shirt. She's Jewish, and because they resemble a Catholic rosary she becomes convinced that he's converting to Catholicism. She wants to see what is on the end of his beads, and he won't let her, because it's a picture of Mother. He is certain that she will confuse it with Mother Mary, Most of the people who live in her retirement home are Catholic and they don't wear beads, but she is still not convinced. When she comes to our house she sees the Puja and pictures of Mother all over the place, has even been to an ashram (met Baba Muktananda) and never objected.. Just another reason to wear your rudrakshas out of view. Oh, and once a co-worker asked my husband if he was wearing dried cranberries around his neck! Guest guest
Actually Once a colleague,in my previous workplace, looking at Amma's picture on my desk asked me who that was. I said that it was a picture of my mother. To which the colleague said "Yes I can see the resemblance between you and Her !!!!!!" I was very very pleased with that answer! and another colleague remarked :Oh She looks so sweet". bala one_tiny_atom <one_tiny_atom wrote: Kevalji: > from the same mullet-headed slob who asked if > the picture of Amma on my desk was my girlfriend!).
