Or much worse, are still circulated even after the child has been found dead. Check http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/children/children.asp to see if this child really is missing, or if it's just another urban legend. As I remember when spam mainly consisted of relatively harmless urban legends and hoaxes.. those were the days before the glut of lingam-enlargement potions, cut-rate Viagra, scuzzy kiddie porn, fake Rolex watches, Nigerian scam lords, phishing crooks, and other digital dreck.
