Ideas on Adoptions

Namaste everyone - I think this is a wonderful idea. I can, however, only

contribute my thoughts and prayers, as I am not in a financially secure position

at this moment.

 

I have an idea as well. I know that Robin is not the only one who has reached

out to the list for help. Perhaps more people could benefit from this? Anyone

in need could e-mail you (or whomever) with their needs, and a master list could

be created, listing the person in need (gender and age) and what they need

(sizes, items, etc.). That way it is all kept anonymously, and anyone in a

position to donate can look through the list and see what they themselves are

able to contribute, or they may have some of the items listed already in their

possession, making it easy to simply send them off.

 

Just a thought **smiles**. Brightest of blessings to all of you in need. I

know what you all are going through...but hang in there - it will get better.

I think this is a wise idea. Here is another thought for those of us who don't

have tons of cash: The that group adopted my family talked to an automotive

repair center about my ready-to-pop tire, who donated a new tire, mounting &

it's balancing. That's one way more people could participate.

Sorry, this comes a little bit late. I am not sure if I should

say "count me in" as I am not too sure of my plans for next month, I

might be going to India for a while. Anyway, I request whoever is

co-ordinating this to please contact me anyways, and if I am still

here, I would be glad to chip in and do whatever little help I can.

 

Iswari - I saw this on the craigslist site, thought you could use it

for a ride to MI. This person is looking for someone to drive

his/her car to Ann Arbor on the 24th of Nov returning on the 28th.

Do you want to respond and see how it goes ? Also keep checking the

site, more stuff might appear.

It might also help to post an ad there.

 

Also, an idea would be - I don't know if any of the Amma centers in

the US is already doing this - to donate gently used household items

(personal toiletry, cookware, books, kids toys, etc) and clothes,

especially children's clothes, to Amma devotees who are in need of

them. Whatever devotees do not need can go to a local shelter. Most

often people buy clothes only to realize that they didn't actually

need it or it doesn't suit her style or doesn't fit etc. Sometimes

it also happens that people gain weight or lose weight and are

unable to fit into some of the best dresses. These dresses just lie

in the closets and are not of any use to anyone. I know some of us

frequently clean up the closets and donate to a local charity, so

why not give the good stuff to people who really need them.
