I have loved reading about all of the miraculous physical healings

people have received through Amma. I have not however talked to many

people personally who have experienced these healings. I myself have

had chronic back and neck pain for about 10 years and I keep hoping

that Amma will remove it. But so far, no such luck. I would like to

ask any of you to share your experiences of physical healing. Has

anyone here experienced a miraculous physical healing through Amma's

grace?

One of the charming thing about our Amma is that She always leaves the door

open for different interpretations.

This summer at a retreat as I was getting ready

in the morning, I took an odd little sidestep to allow my roommate to pass.

There

was a pop(!) in my right knee, and I felt a sharp pain. I immediately began

hobbling around, as opposed to walking. Throughout the day, the knee became

worse. (What I have learned is that one can't walk with one leg!) I was unable

to bear any weight on that leg. A "healer" looked at my knee and solemnly

reported that there was "not much" energy getting through the knee. Offers by

kind people to get

their chiropracter, their orthopedic doctor, etc. did not pan out. By late

night I was

exhausted from dragging myself around with a cane that my roommate had purchased

for me at a drugstore. After being helped to my room, I surrendered to the

situation

amidst tears. I decided I'd stay in my hotel room all the next day, call the

airline to

arrange for a wheelchair at the airport, then go home and have knee surgery and

spend

the summer recuperating rather than following the tour. I even wrote Amma a

little

note (but didn't send it), saying I was like the little dog with its legs cut

off who wants

to keep rolling towards its Master. (Amma had told that story earlier in the

day.)

The next morning I called room service for my breakfast and crawled on my hands

and knees to let the room service person in. After breakfast I was sitting in

bed

looking at my knee and observed that some of the swelling seemed to have

disappeared.

In fact, I noticed, my knee looked NORMAL! I decided to try to stand up. When

I

stood up, it didn't hurt. I could even walk! I did the rest of the retreat,

including all

night seva (sitting and standing) with a cane, but no real problem. I count

this as

one of Amma's miracles.

When I returned home, I immediately saw an orthopedic dr. who had me rest for

two days and who also gave me a form saying I needed wheelchair assistance

for the airlines. X-rays showed nothing wrong, but the dr. felt extra fluid

under the

patella indicated there was some inflammation. He said I may have a minimal

tear

in the meniscus, and I could either have an MRI or wait and see. I elected to

wait

and see. Later, at another city, I saw the healer who had looked at my leg in

LA.

She was surprised to see me walking around, and both she and her friend reported

that after seeing my knee in LA, she had confided to her friend that I had a

really

major knee injury, as there was virtually no energy getting through the knee at

that

time.

Sometimes I still have some pain in that knee, and I'm not entirely sure it

won't need surgery at some time, but I am sure that Amma did some of Her magic

to transform a

major problem into a smaller problem. How's that for a miracle?

In Amma,

Namah Shivaya Dave,

Since the group seems story starved, I'll share a few healing stories that I

know of first hand.

The first incident involves a woman, Peggy, who lives in a nursing home & has

never met Amma, but has enjoyed Her holy water, vibhuthi & loves to have people

say Sanskrit prays & chants for her. Peggy gave permission to share the

following experience.

Peggy's high blood pressure (BP) had been an area of huge concern. Often

Peggy's nurses would repeatedly check her BP as she would take meds & rest in

bed, in an effort to avoid a stroke. Peggy requested a blessing & wanted a

spiritual feeling. After using Amma's blessed water the first time, her BP

fell, and she would apply it daily to her wrist. Later when Peggy was again

concerned about her BP, she called for another blessing. Amma's vibhuthi has

been used while praying & chanting for Peggy by more than one devotee. At

Peggy's request, this is becoming a regular practice :) This week Peggy

reported that her BP had dropped to 100/60 & her nurses were wondering if she

even needed to take BP meds every day! Peggy also relayed that something

wonderful would happen after each blessing, (packages in the mail, etc ...).

Although Peggy hasn't met Amma, she is quite an advocate of the power of Her

vibhuthi & blessed water. Her roommate also gets regular blessings. This week

a staff member requested a blessing of Amma's vibhuthi, in addition to Amma's

blessed water & Nov. tour information.

The second one is about a friend who had an experience during her first darshan.

She had to quit her position as massage therapist, due to pain from an injury.

She was very close to becoming an RN, but this injury seemed it could also

affect her in that line of work. Before her darshan, she passed a note to Amma

requesting healing and prayed to Her. From across the hall, I noticed that Amma

was giving her an exceptionally long hug. Afterwards she sat down next to me

with Amma's fragrance strongly lingering on her. She relayed that when Amma

hugged her, her entire body started vibrating, and her pain was then gone! She

said that she also received an emotional and spiritual healing. Apparently she

had been angry with God and hadn't prayed to Him for about 2 years, since the

time her sister had died in an auto accident. She called the next day to say

that it may sound strange, but as a result of her experience with Amma, she was

returning to the Catholic church.

The third is about a woman with whom I carpooled after she received her first

darshan. She said she had been on disability for 2 years due to an injury she

sustained in an automobile accident. After the darshan, her pain was gone, I

believe for the first time in 2 years!

The fourth is about my son, who is a very private person & would not want me to

share the details of his experience. So, I'll just say that he experienced a

definite and dramatic improvement of a serious condition for which a doctor was

treating him, the next day after I wrote an unsent letter to Amma.

If you ask, I believe that Amma will help you, if it's for your highest good.

Otherwise, it may be in your best interest to experience the pain. I read that

Amma said that if She removed some peoples' diseases, they would have to suffer

even more in their next lifetimes. In addition, someone told me that Amma said

She could take away Sw. Paramatanada's physical suffering, but then he wouldn't

become God-realized in this lifetime.

Jai Ma!

Wow, Sweta, I greatly appreciate you sharing these

wonderful stories! I'm wondering - I've never heard of

the blessing request that you mentioned in the first

story. What is that and how does one request a

blessing?

Dear Dave,

Namah Shivaya,

Using vibhuti or water blessed by Amma, we've chanted:

Om 3 times & the Dhyana Sloka (this was so powerful once when we first began

that Peggy's roommate said she felt like a shot of electricity went through her

body ... Amma's shakti probably did!)

The Triambakum Yajamehe mantra 3x, (healing mantra, I forgot it's name)

Om lokah samastah sukhino bhavanatu, Om shanti 3X

Asatoma satgamaya, tamasoma jyotir gamaya, mrytyorma amritamgamaya, Om shanti

3X

Om purnamamadah purnamadah, purnat purnamudacyate, purnasya prunamadaya,

purnam-eva-vasisyate, Om shanti 3x

Om sri gurubhyo namaha harih om

Peggy's name has also been read at times at the MA Center, towards the end of

Saturday evening's satsangs, so all the devotees present could pray for her, in

addition to others praying for her. If you would like, your name could be read

this Saturday. It's all Amma :)

Hi,

Could be possible that you inform me about Mother´s tour, if she is coming to

Santa Fe, because I visit Amma´s page and there is nothing, only San Ramon and

Michigan.

Thanks.

Re: Grace and Healing

Hi,

Could be possible that you inform me about Mother´s tour, if she is coming to

Santa Fe, because I visit Amma´s page and there is nothing, only San Ramon and

Michigan.

Thanks.

The MahaMrityumjay Mantra:

Om Tryambakam (pronounced as thri-yum-buk-um)) yajaamahe

sungandhim pushti vardanam

urmaarukmiva bandanaan

mrtyor mukshiya maam-ra-tat

a very powerful life-healing mantra which is a salute to Lord Shiva.

Thanks for sharing your practice.

would like, your name could be read this Saturday. It's all Amma :)

Namah Shivaya,

Thank you for sending the entire mantra. Someone told me that he had heard of

amazing healings that resulted from this mantra being played continously on a

tape near patients' hospital beds. Someone else suggested that it be chanted at

least 27 times a day, in order to help heal our planet. Even without perfect

pronunciation, I believe that God hears the intent :)

After visiting & praying for the nursing home residents, I've always felt that I

received so much more than I gave. After every visit, even when I drag myself

in feeling tired, I leave feeling cleared, very energized, and my heart expanded

& overflowing with love. Sounds a little like I received darshan, doesn't it?

Not only have the residents appreciated the prayers & visits, but it's proving

to be a wonderful form of sadhana that is helping me to grow, & helps me to feel

much closer to Amma.

There was a typo last time, so re-writing the same here (CAPITALIZED

word was wrong last time):

The MahaMrityumjay Mantra:

Om Tryambakam (pronounced as thri-yum-buk-um)) yajaamahe

SUGANDHIM pushti vardanam

urmaarukmiva bandanaan

mrtyor mukshiya maam-ra-TAAT

I agree; God hears the intent and ignores the mis-pronunciation,

especially if it is sincere and done without expecting any material

gain for oneself, or without wishing harm for others.

If mantra-chanting is done (any mantra for that matter) for self-

centered reasons (like material gain), then one must take great care

to do the chant and other rituals properly.

One can clearly see your intent is good, but I used this post as an

excuse to just write on this apect of chanting.

About this particular mantra, it can be chanted

1. to avoid diseases (for self and others)

2. for good health (for self and others)

3. for removal of obstacles to goals (for self and others)

4. even for material prosperity (for self and others)

You can read more on this mantra at

The third line should go as "urvaaru kameeva bandanaat"; arguably

vaidik mantras as well as mantras of a certain no. of syllables can

never be ari(enemy, causing harm) mantras, the benefit goes down if

the pronounciation is not correct. I cannot praise this mantra

enough; this mantra prevents serious accidents, chronic ailments and

premature death. Today in these times of uncertaintly, a few japas of

this mantra are advisable; while this is the simplest version of the

Mrityumjaya mantra, there are other more complicated versions of this

which ideally should be gotten from a guru.

Karunamayi Amma recommends that this mantra be continually played in

the house on tape/CD; there is something special about the atmosphere

in the house when this is done. But each time my CD player would

break down within 2 days of playing it continuously (happened 3 times

so far, onetime on a brand new CD player). Interesting !!??

Sw. Ramakrishnanda told me that Amma highly recommends this mantra.

Mahamrityumjay Mantra's words looked slightly different at

this web site below. You can also hear the audio, although

it is not very clear. After reading about the power and

benefits of this mantra from previous posts, I felt that I

should find the words and correct pronounciation and start

on it. Then suddenly this question came up in my mind.

Question: If you got a Mantra from Amma (guru) and you have

been chanting that mantra many times through the day, do

you really need another mantra? Isn't chanting of mantra

given by your guru more powerful and beneficial than

listening to an audio recording or even chanting another

mantra, including Mahamrityunjay Mantra? Can someone please

help me out?

Thank you, yogaman, for correcting me.

Evidently, I got a long way to in cultivating awareness/perfection

of the collective process of:

my readings,

my reflections,

my capacity to retain the info correctly,

my re-collections, and

my speech/writings

Thanks for the gentle reminder. :).
