Given the earth's land/water ratio, even without any

prayers there was a 70% chance of Skylab falling into

the ocean.

 

As I recall, Skylab fell out of orbit in the summer of

1979. What a brutal year '79 was: Jimmy Carter's

inspirational gems about a "crisis of confidence" and

a "malaise", the Iranian hostage crisis, Three Mile

Island, god-awful disco music, the heyday of the

Volare, Aspen, Pacer, and other horrid cars, not to

mention leisure suits and other horrid late-70s

fashions.

 

1980 sucked even worse IMHO! Of course who knew about

Amma back in 1979-80, except for her immediate family

and a handful of devotees in Kerala.
