Om Namah Shivaya,

 

Here are the officially unofficial partial satsang notes from last Saturday's

satsang with Br. Dayamrita. I'll try to send the remainder of the satsang notes

in the near future. Please feel free to send any corrections or additions. It

was going to be a discussion, but humorously turned into yet another question

and answer period.

 

Devotee #1: I heard that when we think of a Master, all of that Master's punya

& self sacrifice comes to us. In order to gain light in order to overcome the

dark age, is Amma the highest one to pray to? Or, are we using up Her self

sacrifice? What should we do to help the dark age the most?

 

Br. Dayamrita: In one sense, a dark age started the moment you were born. So,

this is nothing new, because you are still ignorant. Spiritually, it's a dark

age until we reach enlightenment. It's the nature of the world for things to

happen. Sometimes they are man-made and sometimes a natural disaster, such as

the 3 hurricanes in FL. Some people don't even understand it's a dark age.

They may think their stocks are doing well, etc... We think a dark age is

approaching because we have spiritual awareness. What do you think it is, that

the sun is going to hide? Partly it's in our minds because Amma gave us a

warning, so we are prepared for it. No matter what happens on the outside, keep

concentrating & thinking, "This is my goal." He mentioned a story about finding

a king who was hiding, and the point was not to get distracted ... by gold,

silver, platinum, or darkness!

 

As far as Br. Dayamrita is concerned, there is no higher power than the Guru, or

Amma. The scriptures say Guru & God are one, because the Guru has realized the

infinite power.

 

A funny thing happened. Amma scolded Br. Dayamrita a lot & made fun of him to

the other Swamis. She would say that he calls to say someone's dog or cat is

sick, but doesn't talk about serious matters. Amma always has a point if he

listens. He used to shut out Amma's teasing. He thought that She would always

find fault. Then he got used to Amma's scolding and so it didn't affect him.

Then he kept both ears open. It would go in one ear & out the other, but

sometimes something would get stuck inside. (lol) Amma said, "Why should he

come & tell me these things? I am already listening to their prayers."

 

Devotee #1: She said she would pray, "Oh Paranatman (spelling?), if you can

help Amma's body, please help Her." Then she asked if our prayers are a burden

to Amma.

 

Br. Dayamrita: Whether we pray or not, Amma is going to take it on. It's Her

duty. She is the one who understands what karma is. There is a beautiful

difference between God & Guru. God listens to our prayers, & acts on the law of

karma. But, the Guru takes on the karma Herself. She suffers only 10 minutes

for what would be 10 years of suffering for us.

 

Prayer is good for us. It gives a sense of relief to our minds. It isn't good

for Amma (not for Her benefit - my words.). Amma cannot say, "I didn't hear

prayers." Irrespective of what we pray, do, or think, Amma's duty is to take on

our karma, and She will do that.

 

Devotee #2: Amma says everything that happens in the world is God's will.

Should we be at peace with it? When is it our dharma to relieve suffering in

the world, or do something about it?

 

Br. Dayamrita: Life can be viewed from two different planes. #1-The physical

or mundane perspective #2-The spiritual perspective. The physical plane

doesn't''t go into the spiritual plane, but the spiritual plane encompasses

everything. The problem is when we think from the physical plane. We could try

to set the world right, but has the world ever been right? From the beginning

there has been wars, injustice, oppressed people, and dictators. There has

never been an answer from the physical plane. From the physical plane, maybe we

can move a handful of dirt from the mountain. Whereas from the spiritual

perspective, everything happens from God's will. So, an aspect of acceptance

comes. We don't nurture revenge or bad thoughts. When we go slightly higher to

see these are all projections of our mind. When we go to highest level, then

we'll realize there was nothing. It's like watching a movie. We cry and laugh

with the characters. When we come out of the movie theater,

we realize we just lost money

 

Devotee: Question or remark about how Amma builds hospitals, etc...

 

Br. Dayamrita: Amma's not just combating injustices. The hospital is not just

for the poor, but for the people in the ashram to grow spiritually by serving

others. 30 years ago, Amma had no institutions & She was dead against having

even an ashram. To do something in this world, the best contribution is

spiritual practices. They give balance, peace, and good vibrations to this

plane.

 

Br. Dayamrita also asked Amma what he could do to change this world. Amma gave

a pathetic smile and said there is no problem in the world. Once you change,

everything else will change. She wants to change us. In 1 second Amma could

change the world. She's giving this opportunity to us to grow spiritually.

That's why She's created institutions and ashrams. Her main intention is to

help Her children expand spiritually.

 

Amma is the only one who has made a big change. Mahatma Ghandi fought a number

of years for change. Then the Indians took the same rope as the English, and

there was fighting between the Indians and Pakistanis.

 

Amma has affected so many people to quit smoking, drugs, drinking, etc... not

to just be realized or have their 3rd. eyes' opened. Br. Dayamrita personally

knows of 5 cases when Amma stopped suicides, when She talked to people at MA

Center. Amma is capable of changing the world because of Her spiritual power.

The only person who can make a real change is a spiritual person. We should

have no concern ... there is no end to it. Today 1 president, tomorrow

another president, another country. Just ignore it. Concentrate on killing the

mind, the root cause of all these problems. Then we'll have peace.

 

The conclusion that's yet to be sent is an elaboration on changing the mind, and

right v.s. wrong.
