Guest guest
Oh, this would solve my Thanksgiving issue (my parents would otherwise be a= lone on Thanksgiving, and it is the anniversary of my dad's mom's death, as well). = I could spend Thanksgiving with my family, and fly in on Friday for the retreat. I am pra= ying that this will all work out, so I can be there for my parents, and still get to do the ret= reat with Amma. That would be so wonderful... =) Namah Shivaya, Iswari Ammachi, Kenna <itskenna@c...> wrote: > Namah Shivaya. > > Just learned that new dates (still not totally firm) for Amma¹s November > tour are: > San Ramon, Nov. 17-22 > Michigan, evening of 24th 28th (retreat 26-28). > > in Amma¹s grace, > p. > Aum Amriteshvaryai Namah > > > >
Guest guest
For Michigan, then, sounds like the tentative program is: Wednesday 11/24 (PM program) ... then off for Thanksgiving Day ... then retreat and Devi Bhava. Very nice! Guest guest
People who fly in for retreats, like to fly in early for the public program sooo with a day off in between they will either have to fly on a holiday and miss the public programs and/or be late for the retreat, depending on where they are traveling from. 0:( malati In a message dated 9/9/04 11:44:28 PM Eastern Daylight Time, acujames writes: << For Michigan, then, sounds like the tentative program is: Wednesday 11/24 (PM program) ... then off for Thanksgiving Day ... then retreat and Devi Bhava. Guest guest
Whoops, I was wrong, looks like programs happen on T-Giv day too: http://www.amma.org/tours/amma-tours/n_america.html If I'm not mistaken, five days in one city is the longest span of time Amma has spent anywhere in the US in recent years, outside of the San Ramon ashram. Bless Motown! Your love is lifting me higher! :-) Ammachi, feelbetterocala@a... wrote: > People who fly in for retreats, like to fly in early for the public program > sooo with a day off in between they will either have to fly on a holiday and > miss the public programs and/or be late for the retreat, depending on where they > are traveling from. > 0:( > malati > > In a message dated 9/9/04 11:44:28 PM Eastern Daylight Time, > acujames writes: > > << For Michigan, then, sounds like the tentative program is: Wednesday > 11/24 (PM program) ... then off for Thanksgiving Day ... then > retreat and Devi Bhava. Guest guest
Jim, I just got back from an Amma MI event, and these are the same dates that they announced as well. Programs *on* Thanksgiving. Sigh. Guest guest
I can't tell the mood of your sigh, Niseema, but I'm actually a bit envious of those children who get to spend the holiday with our Beloved Mother. I remember in November 2000 when Amma held Her programs up in Marin County (instead of San Ramon), and the kitchen prepared a pre-Thanksgiving Day kinda feast with yummy yummy "tofu turkey" in a lovely tahini sauce, stuffing, cranberry, etc., and I wished with all my might that I could have travelled to Michigan that year to spend the holiday together. love, prashanti
Guest guest
I second the bit of envy!!! Oh how I wish I could be with Amma in MI this year. Last year I spent TG with Amma, & there was no better place to be than with the Mother who cares for us lifetime after lifetime. Since my birthday falls on TG this year, I especially wish I could be in MI this year. During dinner last year, my then 12-year-old son & I sat next to a man who had traveled alone to the MA Center from another part of CA. So, we ate dinner with & met one of our brothers And, the food was good! Guest guest
Me, neither. Which is why I'm really glad the retreat isn't starting until Friday! =) Iswari Ammachi, "Erica" <sugarandbrine> wrote: > There's no way I can explain to my family that I will be attending > programs on Thanksgiving! > > Erica > > Ammachi, wrote: > > I second the bit of envy!!! Guest guest
> There's no way I can explain to my family that I > will be attending > programs on Thanksgiving! > > Fortunately in Canada that won't be a problem Yes, we do have Thanksgiving here in the Great White North, but it's several weeks earlier - on the second Monday in October - so the weather is better, though in some parts of Canada it's not unusual to have snow in early October! Just like Thanksgiving in the States, we have the disfunctional family gatherings, turkey dinner (cranberry sauce- YICKKK!!), and football on the tube - though of the 12-man, 3-down CFL variety. I see they still haven't secured a site for the Michigan programs.. while they won't have to schedule around the Michigan-OSU game (it's in Columbus this year), the Detroit Lions have been playing a home game on Thanksgiving day since 1934. There's also a major Thanksgiving parade in Detroit, apparently second only to the Macy's parade in New York. So that might impact on finding a suitable hotel. Guest guest
Keval, That depends on the location of the programs. The new Lions stadium is in DOWNTOWN Detroit now, as is the Detroit Tgiving Day parade. So, if the programs are going to be held outside of the immediate Detroit area, it'll probably be okay. Guest guest
Malati, As far as I know, they didn't want to go back to the Westin because of the management there. They weren't the nicest. Erica Ammachi, DCarlin111@a... wrote: > If held at the airport is is easyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh I hope > it is held at the Westin again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
