Perhaps you expect to much there when you shouldn't expect anything. For if one

expects something then that is the beginning of the EGO mind (EGO - Edging God

Out). Flow along in life and accept what IS. Sometimes a 100 watt bulb needs to

cool before it can light up again and not overdo itself. And who knows ......

that 100 watt bulb can probably handle a 200 watt bulb when the timing is right.

WHAT exactly is this?? What a vicious reply. No love in YOUR soul, that's pretty

obvious. Perhaps you should go to Afghanistan and hang out with the Muslim

extremeists. It's a shame to see a message like this come across with Amma's

name upon it.

Dear Erica

Cheer up! You say you are sad that you dont feel longing for Amma. Now isnt

that feeling of sadness that you have no longing for Her itself a sign of

longing? If you were really disconnected as you say, you would be blissfully

ignorant of your lack of longing- you wont feel sad about it. The fact that you

WANT to experience the connection and feel sad when you dont experience it , is

itself proof of the hidden connection lying deep within.

You can NEVER be disconnected from Amma. It is an ubreakable bond between the

Guru and the disciple. between God and the devotee and most importantly between

Mother and child.

You are Her child, and She is aware of it .

I asked Her a similar question this year- I asked Amma' Amma only sometimes I

feel like crying for You, sometimes i dont feel anything'.

Amma replied something to the effect of that being natural. She said ' You are

not hungry always are you ? Only sometimes the hunger will come'.

So hang in there .. watch an Amma video or just the sunset- go for a walk in

the woods or contemplate on the fact that we all have to die and nothing will

come with us except Amma.... then suddenly you will find yourself longing for

Her.

Thanks for sharing this. This 'dryness' is a common experience anmong most

sadhakas. But behind the dryness She is there, waiting.

Hi Erica,

RNAUNBANDHANA is a term I read in Robert Svoboda's "Aghora - the

left-hand path of the Goddess". (The book is a good peek into the

world of the Tantric practices).

It is a term curiously related to karma (as in "it was my karma to

have this fate"). so, RNANUBANDHANA is more the karmic connection

between objects (including human/human, human/object, or

object/human), than the karma of an individual.

The above is just an explanation of what the post-er meant... not

what I accept to be true.

I don't think your connection with Amma is over.

Can you ever stop being yourself? No, right? In like manner, your

connection with Amma will never be over.

This is a temporary phase ... of the low following the ecstatic

high ... you will see these highs and lows throughout your sadhana;

fortunately with sincere practice and grace, the highs will be

longer and longer, and the lows smaller and smaller. THEN

EMANCIPATION, where it will be (I speculate) ONE BIG HIGH!

often seekers go through such a dry phase especially if they are following a

jnana marga or yoga marga. but while following the path of love and devotion,

there will be a pleasent taste throughout the journey.not only that in general

after the initial spiritual changes often people go through a bit thamasik

stgnant state too.. so be patient .. khurrr!!!! do not take that as an excuse ..

hmmm ... lol..

It is the change which often brings awareness and hence happiness to life . when

ever there is a change, we are like new born babies having wonders in the eyes.

is n't it ?. So introduce changes in every small small things . trouble amma in

every small small things . even while doing stretching exercise in the morning (

my morning time is 11.30 Am .. ha haaa.. ) rather than the typical haaaaa..

voice which I make , few weeks backs I changed that to haaa .. ma maaaa ..ha ha

haaa..( like the typical sounds which amma make during bhajans ) , with the

thought that "amma my joints are paining amma ..." . You should call amma with

that word by which you were calling your mom in the childhood in your own mother

tongue ..

Before doing any small activities ( example driving , cooking , taking bath ,

surfing net ), start with the prayer to amma . "amma let me able to do it 100%

without any dreams in between .. let me be able to do it with totality and

creativity . After finishing any activity show the gratitude back to amma by

saying thank you amma..

like bala uncle told, you cannot run away from amma. the bond was already there

, is there and will be there ..

like manoj said , just before , during and after amma's visit there, you were

going through a high phase . we could feel that from the mails at that time . So

this is a natural low phase for the energy to settle down. Keep on watching ..

keep on meditating on amma's smiling face in the heart.

Hi Erica,

I hear that this is a cloudy moment for you. Without knowing you or any

details, I can only say with 110% confidence that our beloved Amma is

with you always always always. Pray to Her in whatever way you can.

Perhaps Amma is especially pleased when we pray and do our sadhana even

though its the last thing we feel like doing. There's always a lesson or

insight underneath the pain, if we're willing to embrace the feelings

fully. Going to satsangs is a sure way to lift my spirits. Are you near

a satsang group? If anything I write doesn't resonate, just toss it on

the compost pile... ;-)

I hope you will keep us posted.

Hi Nisseema,

I think you are right: the honeymoon is over. Don't be distressed.

At first when you meet a person who is to be your spiritual teacher,

you feel an infaturation, just like falling in love. It is a grace

that draws you to that person and starts you walking in their

footsteps.

Meeting with a sadguru is a rebirth experience. You go through all

the stages of growing up all over again in relation to this teacher,

including becoming a cranky adolescent who rebels at his or her

directives.

Sometimes when I watch Mother hugging people hour after hour, I see

that she looks a bit, well, bored. But she keeps on hugging

people. After all, all these thousands, no millions of people

depend on her. In spite of the feeling of boredom or impatience,

she keeps on doing what she has decided is her demonstration of

universal love. After a while, the feeling passes. She seeems more

engaged. That fidelity to her pledge in spite of moods impresses me.

Similarly, we will go trhough periods when being Amma's devotee is

not exciting, doesn't have a charge anymore. Like everything else,

that will change too. It is like some kind of internal weather that

passes through.

When it passes, you will be at a more mature stage as a devotee,

better able tobe of service and have a happy life as well.

Namaste Erica,

I don't have a lot of time to write but wanted to tell you what helps me stay

on track. I am sure you have CD's of Amma's around the house. I take down a

picture of Amma put it in front of me with a candle and insence, put on a CD get

my books out and sing my WHOLE heart and SOUL into it. I sing for about an hour

to an hour and a half. When I am done I pray. Also I have been taught that if

you can not feel anything ACT like you feel it. The more you "act" like you feel

something, the more it will come to be. So start pretending! No matter how fake

it feels, just pretend you feel for our Mother. I have noticed if I goes a

couple of days without singing my bhajans I feel down. And when I sing them

again they pick me up. Try to do this A LOT. (I do it most evenings) You will be

feeling in no time... ! I will pray for you. All my love.

While I wouldn't suggest that "silvagraduate" go to

Afghansistan and hang out with what's left of the

Taliban, as co-moderator of this group I would like

some further explanation from this person and will be

keeping a close eye on his/her further postings. I

presume from the ID that this was written by a

graduate of the Silva Mind Control program.

"ALL PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT IN INDIA AND MINGLING WITH

statement is patently absurd.

BTW, any time I feel disconnected from Amma I reach

for my Amma doll!

Niseema and all,

My relationship with Mother is kinda like all relationships -- it has its

ups and downs, fun times and hard times, bliss and despair. Like the

rollercoaster analogy or pendulum effect that someone else noted: what

goes up, must come down. Inevitable swings with a sadhak's enjoinder to

find balance between the joy and the sorrow natural to worldly life.

I keep amritapuri.org as my browser homepage so I can always get a dose of

"Amma Says" on a regular basis and keep an eye out for new pictures etc.

It's stunning how frequently the aphorism which appears on the screen

seems to apply to a current situation I may be grappling with, worrying

about, or mulling over. In July for example I had started a new flower

essence therapy, and was wondering if the water I had chosen was really

what I needed. Up popped a picture of Mother holding that very same

flower! Coincidence or confirmation? Ultimately it may not matter, as

this mind seems nowhere near calm enough to discern the time inconjuncts

behind that Maya anyway. But it's nice to feel as if Amma is playing Her

games with me even as She tends to all the rest of the world's business.

Inspiring, I guess, would be the description.

Sounds, Niseema, like you need some inspiration to restore succulence to

your deserted heart feeling. Maybe offer some water or milk or juicy

fruits to your Beloved as a physical symbol of That same energy??? Or

just cry: water your lonely heart with the grief of perceived separation.

love, prashanti

So totally True ... nor NEVER be disconnected from God.

For me, this is the most fundamental key to it all.

Even through we may have the feelings or the thoughts that we are

disconnected from time to time, we are not. It is totally impossible. Feelings

and

thoughts do not last .. the Connection does, all ways!

So many churches, religions, etc., teach separation. If they all taught the

Truth, there would be no difference between them.

Knowing there is no disconnection is enough. When the feelings and thoughts

to contrary occur, experience them knowing they are only feelings and thoughts

and not the Truth.

PETER AND ERICA: I HAVE OFTEN WONDERED ABOUT THIS COMMENT, AND GENERALLY WHAT PETER HAS SAID IS CORRECT. FOR YOU ERICA, I'M NOT SURE IF YOU CAN SEE WHAT I'M POSTING NOW BECAUSE IT'S SO LONG AGO,

THAT OUR DISCONNECTION IS {OUR}, NOT FROM AMMA. IT'S LIKE SUN ALWAYS SHINING ON TOP OF CLOUDS, AND THE REASON THERE SEEMS TO

BE A DISCONNECTION IS DUE TO OUR LIMITATIONS.

THE SIMPLEST WAY TO SOLVE THIS IS TO FOCUS ON WHAT AMMA WOULD DO, FEARLESSNESS, FLOWING WITH A CURRENT ENDLESSLY. YES, EVEN A RIVER HAS IT'S BENDS AND TURNS.......REGARDLESS OF FEAR, FOCUS ON LOVE AND DO, THAT'S WHAT AMMA DOES....

ERICA: AMMA'S LOVE FLOWS LIKE A RIVER FEARLESSLY, INSPITE OF FEAR SOMETIMES....DISCONNECTION IS DUE TO OUR LIMITATION, LIKE A SUN THAT SHINES ABOVE THE CLOUDS. SIMPLEST WAY TO SOLVE THIS IS TO FOCUS ON LOVE AND DO, INSPITE OF FEAR AND DOUBTS...DON'T LET LOVE OF GOD COME TO YOU, SHINE OUT, THEREBY ALLOWING TO COME THROUGH YOU INSTANTLY...FEELING IS NOT ENOUGH, OFTEN THE REAL WORK IS DONE OUT OF OUR OWN SIGHT....
