Guest guest
Uh-oh! The MI retreat is Thanksgiving week-end! I really want to go, but I feel so conflicted, as it could mean leaving my parents alone (my dad's mother died on Thanksgiving, so it's always a sad time for him) for the holiday. =( Iswari Ammachi, "E. Guest guest
I'm saw the tour dates and the only one possible for me is San Ramon. Can anyone tell me how far the recommended hotel is from the San Ramon Center? Also, would I fly into San Francisco airport (SFO)? Many thanks! J'ai MA! -Rufman In Ammachi, "E. Guest guest
Namah Shivaya Rufman, You could fly into either Oakland or SF, (San Jose is a little far). Two Marriots are located about 10 minutes away, & in the past have given a discounted MA Center rate. Guest guest
Dear Rufus, You need to fly into Oakland, NOT SFO. San Francisco is way far away; I made that mistake myself the first time I went. Also, the San Ramon Marriot is about a 15 minute drive away, but then there are on site parking lots that are a fairly long walk from the hall, so allow plenty of time to get there. Guest guest
Thank you Jyotsna and Sweta! I'm so used to seeing Amma in a hotel where accomodations and darshan are under the same roof - this will be a different experience. Do you think it's advisable to rent a car, or is it easy enough to get back and forth from the hotel and the the San Ramon Center? Thanks again. Many blessings to you! -Rufman Ammachi, "E. Guest guest
I have flown into SFO, and then taken a train (the BART) from the San Francisco Int'l Airport to the Castro Valley BART station (it takes around an hour and fifteen minutes). I have then taken a cab to the MA Center. You can find the BART train schedules online Namah Shivaya Nirmala Ammachi, "E. Guest guest
Iswari, Last year I went to the San Ramon Nov. retreat which was on thanksgiving weekend, with very mixed feelings about missing thanksgiving with family. But I was pleased to find myself in the company of my other family, and it was one of the best thanksgivings I've ever had. Would your family consider going with you? love, Prajna --- ammasiswari <ammasiswari wrote: > Uh-oh! The MI retreat is Thanksgiving week-end! Guest guest
Dear Rufman, You're very welcome. Since I live about 70 miles from MA Center, last summer I popped the extra $ to stay on-site for the retreat. In general, there are enough devotees who carpool from the Marriots to the MA Center, that transportation in-between the two isn't an issue. Also, devotees have been known to go out of their way from the MA Center, in order to deliver people back to the hotels. If you've never been near SF, you might want a car just for an afternoon to drive to the ocean & see the redwoods. (At least I would.) There are a couple of other hotels people use, one with a kitchenette. I can look into their names if you want to explore your options.
